The ever elusive Phineas Newborn is a gem of a pianist. He is melodic rock Brubeck and spider-fingered like Oscar Peterson. And his albums, like this one, are centered around songs, not jams.

a touch of gospel with some funky assed blues flavored soul jazz. tight chops, check out sugar ray to see just how funky phineas is.
