5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Masterpiece!!!, April 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Back Home [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Because I am a huge Hayley Mills fan, I thought this was one of the best movies that I had ever seen. This movie was very heart-warming. It tells the story of growing up and going through changes and how one young girl handled these changes. I would recommend this movie to anyone; this truly is a movie for all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie, March 23, 2003

This is a good heart warming movie. Very realistic and not over dramatized. Great family movie and again Haley Mills does a wonderful job. It is about a girl who is called Rusty and how she was sent away during the war. She then returns home but finds that things are much different in England then from America where she has been staying for the last 5 or 6 years.
A heartwarming story.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you would like to see this brilliant movie on DVD...., July 10, 2008

If you would like to see this wonderful movie on DVD then we the fans need to let Disney know. A wonderful way to do that would be to send them an e-mail asking them to do so at the following address:
Disneyinfo@Disneyhelp.com
This idea may seem mundane, but it only takes a min. to send them an e-mail and who knows.... maybe if we all band together and ask them to.... then maybe they will.
Remember they can discard one or two e-mails, but when we all e-mail.... it's bound to get their attention. I just ask that you make sure to let them know that this is the version with Hayley Mills and Hayley Carr.... so that they know what we are talking about.

5.0 out of 5 stars DISNEY - PLEASE RELEASE THIS MOVIE IN WIDE SCREEN ON DVD!!, September 25, 2005
This review is from: Back Home [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I watch this movie over and over. It is done so well and has a wonderful storyline which closely follows the book (Michelle Magorian). The acting is very well done and the casting is excellent. Hayley Mills - as the mother - and Hayley Carr - as her daughter recently returned from the U.S. after being sent there during WW II, shine in this story of re-adjustment, growth, and change. This is a lovely family film and Disney should have already put this out of DVD. I hope they will do it soon!

This review is from: Back Home [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I first saw this movie several years ago and continue to watch it from time to time as the story is a timeless one of courage and spirit that keeps one going. The characters very realistic and so is the story of a young girl that returns to England after being sent away during WW II for 5 or 6 years, and is hit by culture shock and the old world class system. Hayley Carr is excellent as Rusty (why hasn't she done anything since?) and Hayley Mills is excellent as her mother. I like Birdie's character, too, who is a buffer between Rusty and her family when she first returns. WHY ISN'T THIS MOVIE ON DVD???? I just can't understand why any movie that is already on VHS isn't automatically made into a DVD? I'd love to buy this on DVD.

This movie is a classic. I especially appreciate how closely it resembles the book (Michelle Magorian) and love the choice of Hayley Mills. If you like the book, see the movie! If you haven't read the book, see the movie! If you are looking for a family classic, buy this movie! Also give "Good Night, Mr. Tom" a read (also by Michelle Magorian)... its one of the best children's books EVER!!! Even as an adult, I re-read it at least once a year, its a great one to read with your child, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent View, January 24, 2007
This review is from: Back Home [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have loved this movie since I was a teenager, and as a history buff I really love seeing different viewpoints of WWII other than the soldier's. It's a unique view of the adjustments that had to be made for the British people after the war. The movie is superbly done, Hayley Mills is a treat to watch, and the other actors are wonderful. I highly recommend this movie - it's a great family film!

5.0 out of 5 stars Back Home needs to be on DVD, February 28, 2006
This review is from: Back Home [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is an excellent movie. I love most of Hayley Mills movies but this was a superb one! Now that I no longer have a VHS machine, I can only hope that they will bring it out soon on DVD. I'm sure many would enjoy seeing this tale of life after WWII in Britain.
