Unbelievable,
This review is from: Back to the Innocence (Audio CD)
Well, first of all, I am a critic. I am very harsh when it comes to judging and evaluating anything, so my 5 stars came to me as a shock as well. Listen, I first heard this group on Passions (daytime soap opera) and did not know who they were, like most people. After that, it was a match made in heaven. Seven and the Sun are great musicians and a superb band. Even better, this CD is unbelievable. You can't go wrong when listening to a song on this CD; they are all superb. I will tell you immediately that my favorite song of this amazing CD is "I Pray". Why you ask? It has everything : great vocals, superb corrals, perfect chorus, pin point music which combined with the rhythm of the lead vocalist's great voice is unmatched in any song I have ever heard to this date. My favorite song until now has been "Wherever you Will Go" by The Calling because of that same criteria, but "I Pray" outmatched the rhythm and the musicof that song and then some. It has become my favorite song of all time,I kid you not, and I have heard a lot of them. It is haunting and gives you the chills by the mesmerising combination of the vocals and the music, and becomes in my mind one of the best romance songs of all time. Simply Unbelievable. And that's not all folks. The other songs simply continue the trend of great writing and producing on this CD; some other notables: Jump, Walk with me, Back to the Innocence are all great songs and are more up-tempo than the slow, and remarkable "I Pray". Another very good song is Black and Blue. All in all, this is what you want when you go out and buy a CD, great songs that you will be playing over and over, and maybe never forget. I have bought, as surely as most of you have, some CD's for a couple of songs that seemed good. With Back to the Innocence by The Seven and The Sun, you get quality and best of all value, REPLAY VALUE for all of the 11 tracks.

More Pop than Rock, but still fun,
By Dan Solera (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Back to the Innocence (Audio CD)
I saw this CD on sale at the Virgin Megastore, and above that, it was up for pre-listening. So I took to the headphones and listened to the first track, "Jump". This song, in all it's uppity joviality, completely won me over. I believe that the first song should, more often than not, characterize the rest of the CD or at least give the listener a taste of what's to come. Back to the Innocence is an album whose opener does just that.
The songs on this CD are much more pop than rock. I must admit this. You can imagine Seven (which is the name of the singer/guitarist) in a boy band easily. He just decided to take to a guitar instead of unleashing his skills with four other clowns only to disband himself from them anyway. But yes, the CD has a very light sound to it. Songs like "I Pray" seem like they fit with 80's love songs than with new-rock anthems. The only exception to this is "Tell Me", which might remind the listener of bands like Better than Ezra or Dishwalla (more so Dishwalla). The lyrics are somewhat diverse as well. They can be critical, oftentimes imposing ("Who stole the magic from your eyes, who was that thief? Who filled your head with all those lies, took away our innocence?") to just flat-out blurts ("I'm tired of your bitchin' and your chomping on my ear, The world keeps moving but you'll still be here next year"). This band is the softest pop-rock band I have ever heard. Don't let this deter you from actually listening to the guys though. Their songs are very introspective and thoughtful when they want to be. And if not for the lyrical content, listen to them for their pleasant sound. Good stuff, I must say. I'm not crazy about it, but good nonetheless. Recommendations: "Jump", "Walk With Me", "Black and Blue", "I Pray", "Say It's So"

I couldn't disagree with Jay Stevens more. I too saw Walk With Me on Passions and like the song even better each time I hear it. I think I am getting addicted to it! I was very happy when the CD came out, because before that my only way to hear it was to watch the video on the Seven and the Sun website. The other songs are great, too, especially Don't Ask Me Why. This is a definite buy!!

Seven and the Sun hit the nail on the head! You can tell these guys really put their heart and soul into every track. The lyrics are awesome, music and singing kick a$$. This is one of those CDs where you walk the streets and you'll hear people singing the tunes. The bonus video on the CD gives a nice look into the "Behind the scenes" of these rocker's lives, and how genuine they are. Keep your eye on these guys, as they are sure to make it big!

Saving Grace,
By Nickie Bray (St. Louis, Missouri United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Back to the Innocence (Audio CD)
I have been reviewing artists for over 3 years now, and I have never given any cd a 5 star rating. I had the blessing of meeting Seven, Eddie, and Wally in June at UMB Bank Pavilion where I work security. I have to say in all my years of working around performers, I have never met anyone as sincere as these three guys. I was greeting by a hug and a friendly introduction by all of them. I was then able to con my boss into letting me have my break while they were performing the most amazing acustic set that I have heard in a good little while. The thing that is different about these wonderful guys are: they are sincere in every word that they gracefully sing. They love thier fans, and appricate them. The next day after the concert, I went straight to the store and bought 10 copies. One for me, and 9 to give to my close friends. In this CD, you have to listen to the message that they have to say. On a personal level, one of their songs saved my life. "Don't Ask Me Why" I think that this song should be played for everyone to hear. Let yourself be who you are. Who cares what other people have to say about it. If you can't accept yourself, no one will. This CD deserves every star that it was given.

An amazing cd,
By Lindsey (St. Louis, Missouri) - See all my reviews

Everyone that knows me understands that I am not speechless often. But when it comes to this cd, that's what I am; speechless. The only word that comes to mind is amazing or phenomenal. No matter what kind of music you are into, you are bound to love this cd. Every song has a differnt feel and a new message. But no matter what emotion or message is conveyed, you know that the words come straight from the heart. I have had the privelage of meeting the guys and through that I know that their words are sincere. There isn't a song on the cd that I don't love. Each one is beautiful in it's own way. I hope that this cd can touch others just as much as it has had an impact on my life. Their words are strong and meaningful, yet their talent is even greater!
