Classic cowboy,

I really prefer my cowboy music this way. The recording is tinny and scratchy and perfect, with minimalist Gene twanging away on his guitar and singing. There are some real classics on this CD, as well as some gems that you may not have heard. I am quite taken with "Mississippi Valley Blues" and "The Dying Cowgirl." And you can never go wrong with the old standbys "Back in the Saddle Again" and "Ole Faithful."Really, a beautiful CD.

While these are representative vocals from Gene Autry more often than not the sound recordings from which these songs are selected and reproduced are simply not good recordings, and not simply a factor of aged originals. There are better Gene Autry recordings on the market. This was a stark disappointment.
