About the Author
Doris Stensland has published three books: Haul the Water, Haul the Wood; Ole's Promise; and On the Back Step as well as contributions to Love of the Land and Prairie Faith, Pioneering People. Doris Stensland was born and has lived her entire life in Lincoln County, in southeastern South Dakota, the locale for most of Haul the Water, Haul the Wood and Ole's Promise.
