5.0 out of 5 stars Assembled easily and really works
I liked how quickly I was able to assemble this device. It took me about 15 minutes. Although it's small, when you use it appropriately, it's quite sturdy. I ordered it to help with poor back flexibility. However, I was quite surprised at how effective it was at exercising my abs. It seems the abs work to keep you stable while you arch back toward the floor. I recommend...

2.0 out of 5 stars This is not an Abdominal Machine
I purchased this machine from Brookstone, and I was disappointed when I put it together. Though it is well built and sturdy, its main purpose is to stretch your back. If you are purchasing it for that purpose only then I highly recommend this product.. If you think you are getting the best bang for your buck by getting a combination of the two.. think again... Go with the...

However, mind the instruction to move slowly. You get the best benefit from that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ab Stretcher delivers, December 13, 2007

This product was easy to assemble, is smaller than many ab contraptions and really stretches out my back. The only issue I have is the seat is small and not very comfortable -- I added a pillow!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, December 12, 2007

This is just what I wanted and needed. It feels great. All the tension and compression is released from my spine when I use this back stretcher. I don't know if it does much for my stomach, you can't do crunches, but I bought it for my back. I use it all the time and my kids and friends love it too. After a long day working or even shopping, I stretch out and feel relaxed and relieved. The pain in my lower back has subsided tremendously!!!

The Brookstone Back Stretcher and Ab Trainer has worked very well for me! I could tell a difference after my first use, as I woke up the next morning without any back pain or discomfort.

If you are purchasing it for that purpose only then I highly recommend this product.. If you think you are getting the best bang for your buck by getting a combination of the two.. think again... Go with the Ab Rocket. It works the abs efficiently and concentrates in that area. This machine is solely for your back and I think they should take that off the product title.

I was originally going to purchase an Ab Rocket, but after reading the dismal reviews, I chose this Brookstone product instead. It was an easy assembly, and is very relaxing to use. If you recline to the maximum position, with you feet up, it mimics the reverse-blood-flow of an inversion table. I have C-5 and C-6 vertebrae fusion, and this product it totally relaxing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Really helps back feel better, June 23, 2008
This review is from: Back Stretcher & Ab Trainer (Misc.)
We purchased this after our doctor recommended it from his own great experience with it. It was easy to put together and very easy to use. It's too soon to tell if it prevents any more back issues but it really does help my husband's sometimes painful back stay loose and feeling good. Mine feels better after using it too. We both recommend the Back Stretcher.

4.0 out of 5 stars I really like this , but..., June 28, 2008
This review is from: Back Stretcher & Ab Trainer (Misc.)
I received this three days ago, and really like it. Besides stretching the back--it gives the abs a good workout, and I think it also works the butt area. Also it doesn't slide around.--The only problem I have with it--is it takes me a minute or two to get comfortable enough to lean back on it. The steal between the foam hits my back wrong. After I am comfortable--then it is fine. I think I am going to look for some foam, and put some in the middle. If not for that--I would give it 5 stars.
It's a keeper.

3.0 out of 5 stars Back Stretcher, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Back Stretcher & Ab Trainer (Misc.)
Item was purchased initially for my husband with postural kyphosis, a common condition of a curvature of the upper (thoracic) spine, to help stretch and loosen the upper spine and relief some minor back pain. He is using it daily with positive results. I have found myself utilizing the stretcher as well to help regain some of my natural posture and as a fitness tool to strengthen my core muscles (upper legs, abdomen and back). My one complaint is the head rest, although adjustable, does not adjust low enough for my comfort. Overall, we are satisfied.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Back Stretcher & Ab Trainer (Misc.)
I just tried this for the first today I at on it and couldnt get it to move You have to bend your knees and push with your abs a bit and there you go It is like an inversion machine only safer an less space I leaned back and said outloud "ahhhhhhh" It is incredible I didnt do any ab work just laid there and let the machine take the pressure off my back You can control how far back you go quite easily so you dont have to get dizzy as you learn to get used to it The cushions at your back feel very comfortable I am thrilled
