Good machine,

I got mine yesterday and have used it twice already. The smoothies came out very good. The only complaints I have are1.) It is VERY loud. I live in an apartment and am afraid it will upset the neighbors! :) and 2.) The spout clogs easily. I'll just have to add more juice/milk than the smoothie kit says to use. It has a lot of frozen fruit and it becomes too thick. The great thing about it though is it crushes ice VERY well! My blender won't do that. So overall, I really like the machine and recommend it. Just be courteous to your neighbors and use it before 10:00PM! :)

It's Either Fabulous or a Big Mess,

I bought the Pro 600 Smoothie Maker for my teenage daughter, who can live on smoothies during the summer. She loves the machine and made 2 or more delicious smoothies a day for about 4 months. Then catastrophe struck. The motor is quite powerful and there is a lot of action going on when it's running (noise too) and apparently the vibration of the machine caused 2 flanges in the bottom of the machine to break off. This caused the strawberry-banana smoothie to flow all over the countertop and floor. It was a huge mess to clean up and left my daughter heartbroken. I have ordered another smoothie maker--the Pro700 stainless, in the hope it can withstand its own vibrating action better than the first. It certainly crushes ice much better than a blender and it does make delicious drinks. My daughter uses frozen berries, bananas, whatever fruit juice is available and sometimes a dab of homemade ice cream in hers. If the new machine holds up, I will give it a 5-star rating. Otherwise, it's off my list forever.

Not very durable,
This review is from: Back-to-Basics Smoothie Elite Maker (Kitchen)
Worked great for 2 weeks and then the gear on the bottom that spins the blade broke. It chewed up the entire piece that connects the glass to the spinner. Even when it did work there was a constant burning smell. This product is not well made.

Wow!,

My husband and I will not pick up a piece of fruit to eat, but we will drink the smoothies we make using fresh fruit and our machine. It mixes all the ingredients really well (unlike a blender) and we're satisfied with every smoothie we've ever made. I recommend this to everyone!

Works Perfectly If Used Correctly! Read The Instructions!,

This review is from: Back-to-Basics Smoothie Elite Maker (Kitchen)
I agree with the review that said that this Smoothie Blender will work correctly if the person using it uses it correctly and I'm glad that finaly someone had the guts to say it and I was coming on here to say that exact thing when I see someone already beat me to it!
If you reads the directions and you are not like a bull in a china shop wehn it comes to kitchen gadgets, appliances, electronic equpment etc than you should have no problmes with this awesome Smoothie Blender! We have had it well over a year and have and have ner had a problem with it but I think that is becasue I read the instructions which verly clearly say that if you don't put the spout back on correctly or close it afer pouring it will leak so if you used this without reading the instruction papers don't blame Basic-To-Basics for your dumb mistakes! It is reviews like that have made me realize taht I have to take these reviews with a grain of salt and not to trust them and to take them for the gospel truth!

I bought this smoothie maker 2 years ago and expected it to last only through one summer. I was wrong! I make smoothies for my 2 year old daughter and her dad and I every day. We all like different things so it truly gets a workout 3 times a day! I haven't had to replace a thing on it and just bought one for my sister for Christmas! I can't believe anyone has had a problem with it - it is so simple!!!

My husband and I received this smoothie maker as a gift off our our registry. I LOVE it! I use frozen fruit, a container of yogurt, and a cup of milk -- it makes fantastic breakfast smoothies. I find that there is no problem dispensing your smoothie when the machine is on its lowest setting.

Smoothie-making's not for wimps.,

The goal may be a "smoothie," but the means requires a rough and tumble machine capable of pulverizing and liquefying hard ice. After going through several blenders, I was given this Back-to-Basics "dedicated" smoothie-maker as a gift. Not only did it appear to be flimsy but it's proven in less than two months to be woefully inadequate to the task. Granted, I failed to follow all of the precautions (pour in liquid before adding ice, use the stirring stick to keep the ice from jamming the blades) but, trust me, this item isn't made for going the distance. The rubber gear teeth that engage the blade began to strip during the first week and by the 8th were completely defanged. In some respects, I'm relieved to put the machine out of its misery. It was both slow and messy (of what practical value is a plastic spigot? A decorative device requiring extra cleaning).
The best machine I've found is a Black & Decker touchpad model (my breaking the jar wasn't the blender's fault). Unfortunately, this model was taken off the market due to some consumer complaints about the blade, but I'm anxiously awaiting its reincarnation. |
