May be wierd for "new" Barney lovers,
By "gravanda3" (orlando, FL United States) - See all my reviews

The backyard gang Barney looks and talks a lot different then the Barney from the last 5 or so years. The songs are fun, the kids are good, but my toddler doesn't seem as attracted as she is to other Barney videos

Thumbs Up, Fantastic!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: BackYard Show: Barney & Friends [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a great episode of Barney and the Backyard Gang. It all starts at Michael and Amy's house and their dad leaves to go to a golf game. Michael and Amy realize how wonderful their dad is and decide to give him a birthday he'll never forget. Sandy Duncan suggests that the children put on a birthday show for their dad with the Backyard Gang. Michael and Amy invite Tina, Luci, Jason and Adam over to their house to help with the show and Barney magically blows up to be big and help the backyard gang. Doing something special with your child like putting on a show for your friends can help your child's imagination and creativity.

The first Barney is the best Barney!,
A Kid's Review

This was the first barney that came out on home video. It has the old backyard gang. Barney, Michael, Amy, Tina, Luci, Jason, Adam, and Sandy Duncan. The Backyard Show is the best. I was always looking at the pictures on the theme song. Now I have it on video. I also recommend, "Campfire Sing-Along", "Three Wishes", "A Day At The Beach", and "Waiting For Santa"!

Sweet Video,

If your kids are fans of the older Barney kids, i.e. the original "Backyard Gang", they will like this video. The plot is probably the most realistic of all the subsequent Barney videos and the songs are cute. It's got a nice cozy feel to it, although the original Barney looks much different than his current version. Worth a view.

Samantha's Movie Review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: BackYard Show: Barney & Friends [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Hi, my name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam. This is a great video! Amy and Michael's dad has a birthday. The kids don't know what to do to say Happy Birthday. The mother suggests a birthday show. Tina, Luci, Jason, and Amy help Amy and Michael put on a show for their dad. First they all perform Hello, Hello. Then, Luci and Jason perform I've Been Working on the Railroad. Then, Michael, Luci & Tina perform Bumpin' Up And Down In My Little Red Wagon. Then, Amy, Adam, and Jason perform Baby Bumblebee. Then, everyone performs Little Bunny Foo Foo. The finale is when they all sing For He's A Jolly Good Fellow to Mr. Duncan. The last song that Mr. Duncan and the gang perform is the Hokey Pokey. I like it when Mrs. Duncan takes their picture doing that. I, Sam, reccomend this video with the Golden Book.

Favorite "old Barney" video,
By A Customer
This review is from: BackYard Show: Barney & Friends [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Our family likes the "old Barney" better, and judging by how young Tina looks, this seems to be one of Barney's first videos. The Backyard Show is definately a favorite in our house and as a shorter video, is one that is popped in more often. Previews for other Barney video are at the END of the video which the kids enjoy watching for an encore performance.

Questions,
By Mike Hill "Mike" (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: BackYard Show: Barney & Friends [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I remember this movie but I don't recall watching it. I remember going to the movie store and my dad would have to get the right barney movie for me because I was scared to death of the way barney looked on the video case, so that leads to one of my questions. Question 1: I don't understand why barney used to be dark purple and had a deeper voice, it even shows a lighter colored barney in the top left corner on the box, so this confused me.
Question 2: What role did sandy duncan play on these barney movies? What did she do? Was she a mother of one of the kids? Please, if anyone knows answers to my questions, please respond to me. Thank You! (sorry if this wasn't really a review) |
