Who needs a chiropractor, when you have this video?,
By Nascar Runner (MO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Backcare Yoga For Beginners (DVD)
I starting running a few years ago, which resulted in lower-back muscle tightness. After several visits to the chiropractor, I realized I was just doing guided stretching--so I bought this video. Two days of this video always fixes my back when it starts to ache. My regular yoga is too strenous when my back is tight. This video uses a chair to modify many of the regular yoga poses. I highly recommend it. It's only 20 minutes, so it's easy to fit in.

Back Care Yoga A Waste of Money,

This review is from: Backcare Yoga For Beginners (DVD)
I was really disappointed by this DVD. My acupuncturist had recommended that I try a Rodney Yee video, but I don't think he knows that this is mostly fluff--there's lots of advertising and talking, but only 20 minutes of actual yoga. So as a yoga session, it's just too short to be of much use except for absolute beginners--but it's clearly not aimed at them, as Rodney uses poses that true beginners would not already know, and does not instruct in how to do them.
More important, the yoga exercises are too short. The program is 90% stretching, but the stretches are not held long enough to be effective. The poses are also too brief. And there are not enough of them--real back work involves strengthening back and abdominal core, but there are only a few poses in this program that do that. Based on this DVD, I will not buy anything from this source: it feels like a moneymaker scam to me.

The worst Yoga dvd I have ever bought. There is no audio instruction. You watch the same move over and over. It does not even give time to change from position to position. I like to follow video to exercise. You can definitely not do this. I don't know what's point of this video.

FANTASTIC,

This program is perfect for people with back issues. It has added flexibility and strength to my core without difficult yoga positions. It has proven to be much more benefical than my physical therapy. Now I use this every other day and do many of the stretches anytime my back feels weak or tight. I am 62 yrs. old and recommend it to everyone who will be committed to use it 3 to 4 times a week because it does work.

A Healing Back Yoga,

The VHS format of this video was given to me a while back by a friend who is an Oriental medicines doctor. I was extremely happy to get my hands on the DVD. For over 15 years I've trained in the martial arts and any time my back muscles start getting tight or a little sore from too much training, insufficient stretching or over exertion, I pull out this yoga video. Practicing the yoga stretches once a day for two to three days makes my back feel wonderful. Exaggerated yoga stretches held for an extended time aggravated my back soreness, these gentle stretches are just enough to facilitate healing. Currently I follow the regime four or more times a week. I highly recommend it as a gentle routine preventative or treatment for sore muscles.

As someone who has had back problems for years including a fusion this dvd is easy to follow with slow easy moments it would be wonderful for anyone of any age--just go slow.

Got this off of Amazon Unbox and it's great.
This was a great way to get back into a regular yoga practice with my terrible back. I did Bikram for years but haven't done regular practice in forever and my bad bad really limits me right now. Until I'm more flexible and my core strength is back up, this video is a lifesaver for me -- I can actually concentrate on the stretch and strength because I'm not in agony trying to overextend my back. It is brief but I just pause when I want to extend something and I played it twice last night and it was just perfect.

This worked for me!,
This review is from: Backcare Yoga For Beginners (DVD)
This is a good beginner DVD, and it helped settle my back down in less than a week. I noted one other reviewer indicated that it was too short, and the poses weren't held for long. That's why it says "for beginners." It's simple, and I like it. As a beginner, I'm happy that it is mostly stretching, and the poses aren't held for long. They are held long enough for me, that's for sure! The other reviewer's "minuses" are "plusses" for me. I guess what I am saying is that we are all individuals, and this was really a good one for me. I'm looking forward to the day when I can do the stretching from memory so I can take my "show" on the road. :-) In the meantime, the reminders as to posture and breathing throughout the 20 minute routine really help. I would recommend this DVD for beginners. There is another DVD called Back Care Yoga by Rodney Yee that might be more appropriate for those who know more.
