This review is from: Backgrounds and Borders (Weekend Decorator) (Paperback)
Pick up this book for innovative ideas and unusual techniques for results that are stunningly elegant, yet simple. Using her new home in Bristol as a canvas, Ms. Innes creates a suave atmosphere, showing DIY decorators to create texture on walls with minimal amounts of paint and glycerin as a glazing medium. Have you used relief borders (anaglypta) in your home to no particular effect? Turn to page 29 and find how powdered graphite - what goes down on paper when you write in pencil - makes all the difference. White tiles make you blah? Check pages 45 and 63 for a simple, weekend project that will leave you with a beautiful frame or backsplash for the kitchen. Love tapestries but can't be bothered with needlepoint? Pick up you paintbrush and turn to page 71 for a trompe-l'oeil wall hanging. "Background and Borders" will leave you with accessible, simple and economical solutions for a sumptuous décor. Highly recommended.
