This "cheesecake" has the consistency of chocolate mousse and the cookie topping is awesome. A nice treat after a long day of hiking. It only requires cold water to reconstitute which is easy. Like most of these dehydrated meals I use less water than the directions indicate.

This product is easy to prepare, but taste more like a dark chocolate pudding then cheesecake. For about 1/5 of the price, you can purchase a box of instant pudding, and get a similar light weight, tasty treat for the trail.

Wow, that was good! Ate it on the day I thought I was gonna bite the big one on the AT. It made for one hell of a morale booster!

Ok. Let's start here.
Cold water. I'd say, unless you are in glacier country you'll never find cold enough water to make this 100%. Having said that lets move on.
The prep was more labor intensive than I wanted after a day on the trail. I mean, who has time to sit there and stir for 2 minutes into a deep bag? The bag itself makes it hard to accurately stir this product and the depth doesn't help (there are no forks THAT long in the backcountry).

After the stirring, you are letting it sit for 10 minutes. So that "cold water" is now getting LESS COLD. Nothing worse than warm cheesecake if you ask me.
In the end, the whole thing tasted like a big glob of chocolate pudding (which really tasted good BTW) but it wasn't the cheesecake experience I was expecting.

It's - surprisingly good!

It's not a pie or cake by any stretch of the imagination. It's pudding with crumbs on top. And while that's not a bad thing, it really didn't taste like cheesecake to me.

I will say that preparation was a little more involved than "pour in water and wait." The directions said to use two forks to stir it up, but I only carry one on the trail so, oh well. It mixed OK and rehydrated fine for me. Overall, for a freeze-dried entree this was quite good. It packed nice and flat and light, and the bulk of the pouch was negligible when it came time to pack out. I like this line of food quite a bit.

It's basically pudding for the chocolate crumbles. Delicious though!
