From Library Journal
Author Winning and six friends rode across the southern United States in 45 days in the late spring of 1986. Presented here is their trip plan, done in the style of Wilderness Press hiking guides. Packed with details and well-done, this guide is useful for any cross-country bicyclist. The trip is broken into mostly 70-mile segments on a course going from Santa Monica, Cal., to Washington, D.C. It usually allows for restaurant meals and motel overnights, but some camping and cooking would be required to make the entire crossing. Recommended for most public libraries, especially those in California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Virginia, through which the ride passes. Thomas K. Fry, UCLA Lib.
