4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Expected
We received this book as a gift 4 years ago when we moved to San Antonio. We knew nothing about Texas and have found this book to be truly interesting. We just got back from West Texas, our first time, and brought this book along. We found it most interesting.

Nowhere in the book does it say that the author visited every town. It specifically states that...

1.0 out of 5 stars When are the Interstates considered Backroads in Texas?
This book was VERY dissapointing. When I began noticing that the Interstates are included in many of the routes, I quit looking at it. All of the photos are small and in black and white -- many appear old. The route maps are a joke. I wish I could send it back and get my money refunded. The title is VERY misleading. Jon Black

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Backroads or Unique, August 10, 2006

A wate of money. This is list main highway routes. A lot less information than what one can find in a AAA Book. No restaurants and no places to stay even listed. Looks like the authoir never visited any of these places. He certainly brings nothning unique to this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Expected, October 10, 2011
We received this book as a gift 4 years ago when we moved to San Antonio. We knew nothing about Texas and have found this book to be truly interesting. We just got back from West Texas, our first time, and brought this book along. We found it most interesting.

Nowhere in the book does it say that the author visited every town. It specifically states that information was gathered from town information centers. Also, who drives slow backroads to get to places. We drive interstate and then get off the interstate to go into the towns that are mentioned.

Sorry, but I find this book most interesting and well worth it.
