Suspense with a twist,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Backstreet Hero (Silhouette Romantic Suspense) (Mass Market Paperback)
his is book nine of Justine's Redstone Incorporated series and it is as good as the rest of the series. I really enjoyed it and if you like suspense, mystery, and a twist you should read this book. The hero and heroine come from two very different backgrounds and this causes part of the comflict between them. The heroine comes from the high society and is older. The hero comes off the streets and was once a gang member. Tony Alvera ~ who we met in a previous book ~ grew up in a rough neighborhood and became a gang member. But Josh Restone saw something in him and helped him get free of the streets, get a good education and then make something of himself. He is now working for Restone's security division. Tony has met Lilith Mercer and has fallen in love with her even though she is 12 years older. When she needs protection from someone Tony asks Josh to let him be the bodyguard. Lilith Mercer is working on trying to find out what inventions have been stolen from Redstone by Stan Chilton who was part of the security for Redstone. Now he is in prison for his part in the theft. Lilith has had two major, life threatening "accidents" ~ she was nearly hit by a truck and someone had stretched a wire across her steps causing her to fall ~ and Josh has a feeling that they are not accidents (which they aren't) and someone wants her dead. Josh lets Tony have the job ~ but he and Lilith have problems accepting each other as they are mainly because Tony has a chip on his shoulder. |
