1.0 out of 5 stars "New' versions of the classics you love. But Best of ARS., September 10, 1999
This review is from: Backtracks (Audio CD)
Recently I heard an ARS song on the radio, and I thought, I have to get one of their albums. I found this one.. I popped it into my cd player and was stunned. It was NOT the versions I loved to hear while growing up. It was some lame re-recording of the great ARS songs. However.. it does have some of the original artists.

Since these are NOT the songs you probably want to hear, I cannot reccommend this album. If you want to hear the great original recordings, you want to purchase BEST OF ATLANTIC RHYTHM SECTION, (June 11, 1991). FOrtunately, this too is available on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very, very good album, January 28, 2010

I saw some bad reviews but I ignored them & listened to this album and it's great. The songs are very close to the originals with the exception of a harder electric guitar and I like that - it sounds like ARS w/Eddie Van Halen.

1.0 out of 5 stars Prime example of classic rock gone all wrong, October 1, 2009

There should be a law that requires at least 1/3 of the original band be involved in, or at least to endorse, a re-formed classic rock band. That's just my arbitrary standard, and it doesn't seem like asking a lot, does it ? Well, these guys would flunk that standard.

My wife, knowing that I really dig the first 5-6 ARS records, thought she was doing us both a favor by buying this lump of crap, instead of getting something with the original band on it. I make jokes about classic rock bands touring with the cousin of a former roadie being their only connection to the "back in the day" band. This lame outfit is something along those lines.

This CD is just junk. Terrible. They should pay you to take it off their hands. As a musician and ASCAP songwriter myself, I can't imagine why they thought anyone would want this rubbish. It's a badly conceived, tired attempt to recreate the smart, slick blues/pop/rock blend that set ARS apart from mindless Confederate flag waving boogie bands of the late 70's. They were distinctive then. Here, they sound like a third rate ARS tribute act.

Consider this CD as an icon for a once proud, hard working platinum selling band, who's original members didn't take care of their legacy. This is a disgrace to everyone - past and present - that wore the ARS name.
