Summer Hymns - 'Backward Masks' (Misra),
By
This review is from: Backward Masks (Audio CD)
Didn't enjoy this most recent 2006 release as much as I did Summer Hymn's 'A Celebrity Arm Gesture' effort (see my review). Simply a bit too light-weight for me. However, some of the tracks here are well written, I thought - like the mellow "Way You Walk", the intricately played "Pity And Envy", "Ice Age World" and "14 Inches Of Snow". More devoted fans of this indie neo-psych band should get more out of this CD than I did. Line-up: Valerie Watson-vocals, Derek Almstead-guitar, Chris Riser-bass, harp, horn & sax, Scott Stapleton-piano and Phillip Brown-percussion.
