As an avid bird lover and watcher, The Backyard Bird Lover's Ultimate How - To Guide grabbed my attention immediately. It is more than a bird identification book. It has so much information to help the new as well as the seasoned bird lover of any age to bring birds into the yard. This book has over 200 easy ideas & projects for attracting & feeding your favorite birds. It is filled with tips for a bird - friendly backyard.

This book has everything from how to use bird baths as well as what plants will draw in the birds that you desire to live in your mist. One really cool thing about this book is that it has a table of contents as well as an index. There are Internet site suggestions for further reading. You will also find several pages of resources such as places to purchase seeds and plants.

My favorite resource in this book is the Conservation Groups. It lists several conservancy Alliances, Ornithology and societies to further your knowledge base and connect with like minded bird lovers.

The very last page is a colored USDA Plant Hardiness Zone map of the United States and Canada. This is exceptionally helpful when you are planning your yard for bird habitat. You will know what plants will grow in your area.

I am sure we have all seen birds that seem to pick on the other birds and do not want them in our feeders, bird houses or bird baths. This book offers tips on how to deal with this type of bird.

This book is filled with birds in color as well as tips that are color coded for easy searches. There are many recipes for making your own bird food. You will find a list of evergreens that attract birds and the kind they attract. For example, we have lots of evergreens in our front yard that we use as privacy.

This book is a wealth of knowledge on easy ways to attract and keep the birds coming to your yard. Plus, many common household items that would normally be thrown out after use can be used in a lot of the projects. A great way to help the birds and recycle at the same time.

I have rarely seen a book that was organized alphabetically by topic. Sure - the encyclopedia is. But a book about attracting birds? There is lots of good content, but unless you read the book from cover to cover you will not find it all. And once you have read it, you won't find it again. Let's see... was it under "p" for peanut butter or "f" for feeding or "b" for backyard (or bark)? Before you buy, look at the table of contents.
