3.0 out of 5 stars A thin read... April 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
There is some good information here but overall the book was sparse. The section on building coops and equipment was inaccurate and choppy. I learned more from looking at the diagram of the finished product than from reading "how to construct". A good primer for one who knows very little about raising chickens but definately not a comprehensive work on the subject.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not all of the information is accurate. February 2, 2014

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have been raising backyard chickens for three years. There was some information in the book I found new, such as using sand on the floor of the coop. I am going to try that. However, the list of foods not to feed the chickens does not agree with other sources I've consulted or practices I use. My chickens love mushrooms, tomatoes, and kale! I don't know why those are on his list.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money June 27, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
While this book is a nice intro if you've never read anything about raising chickens, its content is so basic and brief that you could get its equivalent by doing a simple Google search. I bought it after reading the reviews praising it for it's detailed information. I was thoroughly disappointed. I felt I didn't get anywhere near my money's worth.

I originally downloaded this because I wanted to find a reliable source on what I can and can not feed my chickens but as I was reading the list I realized that some of the stuff on the to feed your chickens was also on the stuff to not feed your chicken. I ended up having to find another source

2.0 out of 5 stars Minimal information April 15, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
It was a short read. I was mainly looking for more info on brooding, but it only listed the most basic things you could do while brooding baby chicks
