I bought this game for my 4 1/2 year old son. He really enjoys playing the game but has struggled to improve. I thought some of the controls could have been less joystick use and more wii style movements. They do let you use your arm to pass and snap and tackle better but the rest of the game is more button and joystick. I noticed we mostly sit down to play while other wii games promote standing up and getting some exercise. It would also be nice to set the difficulty for each player. It would also be nice for the player names to be said more often as my son is getting to know and cheer for certain players.

This is a good game for any young child who loves football and likes to play
wii games. It is recommended to other children who have similar love of sports. Thanks, John

I have to give this game three stars overall because of the game's sexist lean against men. Sound foolish to say? Well, when your son is seven and is constantly listening to a male announcer say the most idiotic things ("The numbers on the clock are getting really small" in a nasally voice) and the female announcer never once utters a silly or stupid phrase, it's infuriating. Let's give the message that both sexes can be intelligent and do fun and crazy things. The PC message is overboard and serves only to possibly undermining our sons' self-esteems. It IS just a game - just be aware.
Having said that, the game is techmo-bowlish (if you can remember that : ) ) and fun - very easy. I think it's helping him to learn the rules of the game - just be ready for questions like "What's an onside kick?" Plus, it's giving him the understanding of how plays work. Playing football outside is the best of course, but it's COLD outside right now! I will not buy another Backyard game. |
