5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone loves this, from baby to Nana...
The editorial review is ridiculous...either she's never watched the Backyardigans, she doesn't have children, or she simply doesn't appreciate a wide diversity of music.

The fact that they use real children's voices for these characters was one of the most appealing aaspects of the show, but what won over the whole family is the wide range of music genres...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first
I have a 16 month old and this one is definitely not as good as the original CDThe Backyardigans. My little one doesn't sing along with this one, so I've determined that she doesn't like it. Songs are not as catchy or as likeable to me. I've gone back to playing the original CD for her. Sorry.

The editorial review is ridiculous...either she's never watched the Backyardigans, she doesn't have children, or she simply doesn't appreciate a wide diversity of music.

The fact that they use real children's voices for these characters was one of the most appealing aaspects of the show, but what won over the whole family is the wide range of music genres that are covered, such as swing, country, hip-hop, scat, rock, opera - just to name a few...

Contrary to what the editorial review states, you could play this CD over and over (which is typical of little kids) and not get sick of it...

With the questionable content of most popular music these days, it's nice to have the Backyardigans to play for your entire family, and be able to educate your little ones on using their imaginations while learning valuable lessons to music from so many time periods and cultures.

My kids LOVE this show and all the music. My 7yr old still enjoys watching the show, and my 3yr old can't get enough of the music! These kids can SING, and not in that annoying cutesy Kidzbop or Barney sort of way. This is completely tolerable music. If you have to play kid's music, you'll appreciate the talents of the singers on this CD.

As for the songs, I personally like this CD slightly better than the first one. My 3yr old loves to boogie to "Shake Your Body"!!! And I especially appreciate that my kids are exposed to many genres of music, in a fun and extremely listenable (if that's even a word) way.

Adults are unlikely to go insane with repeated listenings of this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than tolerable...ENJOYABLE!, October 1, 2006
This review is from: Backyardigans Groove to the Music (Audio CD)
Ok, whoever wrote that editorial review doesn't know the first thing about The Backyardigans (Uniqua singing I Love Being a Princess?). And anyone who doesn't know The Backyardigans should NOT be writing an editorial review of this product! This CD epitomizes the fun, creativity and innovation of the TV show.

My daughter loves listening to "her" music in the car. After several months of cringing to the myriad of kids' music we had on a mix CD (Barney, Little People, etc) and banging my head against the steering wheel at the repeated requests for her lullaby music (seriously, lullaby music in the car = sleepy driver and possible car accidents!), I knew I HAD to get this CD! I was not wrong!

The Backyardigans is about the only kids' show that I can admit to WANTING to watch. The songs on this CD bring familiar episodes to mind and we all (even Daddy!) have a blast singing together. And even when I'm not in the mood to be bouncing and singing (as it so often happens to us all), the music still makes my daughter happy as she sits in her carseat and I can actually SEE her imagination flying as she listens, sings and dances.

With Irish jig, country, old school funk and zydeco as only a small sample of the music genres these friends explore, there is truly something for everyone and it helps kids open their minds to different kinds of music. The music is sung by the TV characters (children) but is not the piercing and grating little kid voice that seemingly infiltrates all other kids' music. It is actually normal. And the singers are actually good! I don't have the first CD but you better believe I'm going to be getting it soon! The songs are taken directly from the TV show episodes and are shorter than other songs as a result. Although I love having this in the car for our trips to and from school and errand running, I tend to get bored with the same songs over and over and over (even with my "grown-up" music) so I'd like to have more songs and therefore, more of a selection. The more songs there are, the more spread out each song will be in the rotation and the more staying power it will have with the adults. But, boy, what fun this CD is! A true favorite in our family!

Backyardigans fans (young and younger ;) will not be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars It actually IS music for the whole family., August 10, 2006

I've heard the Backyardigans music much more than I've seen the episodes with my kids. One thing for sure is that the music is varied, appealing, and well done. I'm glad The Backyardigans have introduced my kids to such a wide-variety of musical genres and made them enjoyable for them. I really can't picture another kid's show making my children sing Zydeco songs. "Ya gotta go, go , go..."

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, September 18, 2006
This review is from: Backyardigans Groove to the Music (Audio CD)
My kids have been huge fans of the show for a quite while now. It is so much fun to hear them learn the lyrics and dance to the different rhythms. Definitely a big hit for the whole family. I personally love this CD and enjoy watching the show too so this CD is great for the parents to enjoy with the children. "Shake your body", "Eureka", "Super heros..." are their favorites, but as they listen to the CD, the favorite lists grows and grows... very catchy.

It's been almost a year since we've bought the CD and the tunes are still a favorite. We can start humming a tune and the kids will start to sing the songs since we've heard them so often. Definitely a hit on the two CDs that we've gotten.

I'm updating this review. This still one of our favourite CDs. As the new shows appear on the TV, we are enjoying the music even more. Kids are now 7 and 5 and still love the music.

The reviewer clearly has no apprecication for diversity. My whole family enjoys listening and watching the backyardigans. It is finally some music we can all enjoy and play while driving anywhere. I love it so much I even sing along. The music promotes appreciation for all styles of music. My kids spend more time dancing now that we have the cds. Who can argue with kids getting more exercise. This is the best kids show I have seen and the music is even better:)

My whole family can not get enough. The music is fun and infectious. My 2 year old loves to listen along and them remembers the words and images from the TV shows. I am disappointed that this is only the 2nd CD...these backyard friends are so much fun!!! Keep the songs and shows coming Nickelodeon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and funky music for kids of all ages, November 10, 2007

This review is from: Backyardigans Groove to the Music (Audio CD)
I'll never forget the day my husband and I were in the car with my daughter and The Drumming Song came on. I loved it and felt like it was my dirty little secret. Rather sheepishly, I confessed to him that I loved it and he looked at me and said, "I do too!" That's when I knew we had hit the jackpot. I love the Backyardigans in general and my daughter is a huge fan. The music is fun and covers a wide variety of styles but what is most surprising of all is how very clever the lyrics are. My husband and I frequently laugh out loud at some of them. I just love seeing my daughter bopping the the beat in the backseat and singing along with her favorite characters. This CD truly does kids' music proud and proves that if it is done well it's also a treat for adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tammy La Gorce is dead wrong, July 22, 2006

This review is from: Backyardigans Groove to the Music (Audio CD)
Any parent who has truly watched and listened to The Backyardigans couldn't help but disagree with the Editorial Review. If you want your child to have a wide range of musical appreciation, this is a fantastic show and CD. All original songs and stories with a different musical theme for each episode, this show has great vocabulary (my daughter didn't know the word "gulch" before watching "Eureka!") and has taught fabulous memorization skills as my 2 yr old has learned almost all the songs. As for the singers, I really appreciate the fact that they enunciate and have emotional inflection. I love this show and their CDs, and I am 27. Finally, Ms La Gorce, if you are going to insult a show do it correctly...Uniqua doesn't sing "I Love Being a Princess," Tasha does.
