This review is from: Bacteria for Breakfast: Probiotics for Good Health (Kindle Edition)
My 2 star rating is not a criticism of the book, itself, but rather its usefulness to me. I am having trouble getting into it for long enough to find the part (if there is one) that speaks to my situation. It may be an excellent textbook but textbook it is. The table of contents couldn't be a lot less accessible. Do I have the time and motivation to read hundreds of pages of information in order to become better educated on the topic of intenstinal bacteria? Probably not. Even if I did spend the time and effort, would I be able to apply this information to my own gut? No idea.Part of the problem may be the Kindle format which, imo, doesn't convey information anywhere near as effectively as a well organized "real" book. Of course this could change completely with improved technology relegating paper to the dust heap of history. I will continue to buy Kindle books and, probably, to carry my Kindle in my purse. Doesn't mean I have to like the format. In fact, I may have just talked myself into buying a tablet or a netbook to use as my reader. Then, all I need is a hot spot and I'm good to go -- a bit less portable than a Kindle but so much richer in possibilities for learning. |
