"I don't eat flesh...", January 22, 2006
This review is from: Bad Boys - Special Edition (VHS Tape)
...it was lines like this one that kept the movie from being much better.
Bad Boys brings to the screen the story of two Miami policemen and their efforts to protect a key witness in a murder trial.
Will Smith carries out his role well, though by no means is this his best performance.
The major setbacks are in relation to:
1) Martin Lawrence overdoing it with his "paranoid" character.
2) Tea Leoni's (annoying) character doing and saying the most unlikely things throughout the movie, such as trying to shoot the bad guy from a distance in the middle of a crowded club and much more.
3) The poor choice of an actor to play the captain of the police who is not all man, if you catch my drift... Any particular reason for that? In addition, the scene where he is smoking a cigar while shooting some hoops is just ridiculous!
4) The other two cops were just not interesting at all nor were they good actors.
5) The weak and rather boring car chases.
In short, the setting is good, the acting, the plot and the humor are average, while the dialogues and the script are weak.
In a nutshell, it's probably not a movie you would want to add to your collection, but it will provide for an evening's entertainment, and that's about it.
