4.0 out of 5 stars Tattle Tongue Gives Kids a Great Place to Start
After seeing the author, Julia Cook, read this at a local book store's story time, I immediately purchased Tattle Tongue. 2.0 out of 5 stars Too long
I purchased this book for my Kindergarten class. The book has some great ideas on how to combat tattling, but as a read aloud, I feel it is too long and not engaging enough to get the point across. This might work better for 2nd and up.

This is a great story that really gives youngsters an idea of how to separate tattling from necessary information. The rules are explained in simple language with good examples. A great basis to help kids with the topic of tattling.

5.0 out of 5 stars My kids love this book!, January 28, 2008
I am an elementary school guidance counselor. I read this book to my first grade classes, and they love it! It really helps them to clarify what the difference is between "telling" and "tattling." Moreover, it allows me to elaborate on examples of when it is necessary to talk to an adult about dangerous situations. I would definitely recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars TaTa Tattling, September 27, 2008
Tattle Tongue is a very clear, cute way to stop tattling in the classroom. It models for children the difference between telling and tattling. Being able to purchase a poster of the rules was a nice bonus.

I used this book with 2nd graders for a lesson on tattling vs. reporting. They loved it! The twist at the end had them guessing and discussing as well. I only wish the language in the book had been the same as what we call it at school . . . tattling and REPORTING. Still a good book though. I would definitely recommend it.

I purchased this book hoping it would be appropriate for my Pre-K students. It was a little too involved for my kids. Unfortunately, there aren't many books out there that I could find on the subject of tattling.

If your class or child is between 6 and 8, this book might be appropriate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review from Books That Heal Kids, September 8, 2010

A little tattling from kids is not the end of the world. But when they are tattling 24/7 it will pretty much drive a person bonkers. I'm an elementary school counselor and I definitely feel the frustration of tattling. It's 2:30pm...the recess bell has rung and I've got 10 tattlers on my heels and that's usually when it dawns on me. "Whoa! I need to read A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue pronto!!" I'm not trying to shut the tattlers down. I just want them to give the problem a second look. Tattle Tongue takes a smart approach to tattling. Author Julia Cook focuses on teaching kids the difference between a small problem and a big one. This concrete information can transform the way kids make decisions about how to handle the conflicts around them. Josh also goes through a little social exclusion as he exhausts everyone with his tattling behavior. Yes, this sometimes happens. However, we don't give up on these kids and label them tattlers. We guide them with appropriate counseling and resources to turn them into leaders. And now I'm probably down to 2 tattlers instead of 10.
