Primrose, Cassian, and Daisy Darling, along with their parents, have set off in the ocean liner Kleptomanic with the intention of giving up thieving and going straight forever.Things seem to be going according to plan when the Darlings are shipwrecked on a tropical island where life is, in fact, ideal.
Sadly, plans never seem to work out exactly as one anticipates. The Captain, a.k.a. Mummy Darling, is miserable without a ship, so the little Darlings set to work seeking out a new one, as well as the contents of half a dozen really tip-top safes to be liberated from posh families on holiday. All promises to turn out rather well—until Papa Darling, sick of lavatory duty, begins to meddle. Enter a very evil man by the name of Gomez Elegante, and you’ve got a mess bad enough to be called Darling.
