Biography

Daniel Powter is a Canadian singer-songwriter born in 1971.

Small numbers of his debut album, I'm Your Betty, were released in 2000.

The chart topping single, "Bad Day", for which he is best known was released in 2005, whereupon it received heavy airplay, not least of all as a result of being chosen by Coca-Cola as a theme song in Europe. Once in a while there comes a song that has a memorable melody that plays in one's mind through out the day. "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter is just that song. It bears reminiscence of pop radio during the 1970s from the likes of Stephen Bishop, Andrew Gold, Leo Sayer, or Elton John. And for adult contemporary listeners, the song may follow in the same vein as Train, Jamie Cullen, or James Blunt. The lyrics are catchy and one can easily sing along with, and the piano accompaniment and the light lush strings in the background give the song its signature pop trait. How could Powter go wrong when he has the production of renowned recorder producer Mitchell Froom (Crowded House and Elvis Costello) and Jeff Dawson. In addition to the main track of the cd single are the tracks "Stupid Like This" and the Beatlesque "Lost On The Stoop." And for a bonus, this package includes the "Bad Day" video, which only enhances the presentation of the song visually with its quirky storyline. For those who have not seen the video, this will be a delight to see.

Indeed, "Bad Day" is the type of song that will make anyone's day. No doubt, this is one of those songs where the volume should be cranked up. I highly recommend this song, and check it out today.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a CD-SINGLE!!!!!!, August 4, 2006

To the other reviewers that were shocked. Read the description about this and other CD's. They say CD-Single or Maxi-Single. That means it's usually only a song or two. Usually remixes of the same song. Plus there is usually a list of the songs on the CD in the description. You weren't ripped off. You just didn't take the time to read about what you were buying.
