Book Description

Berkley Sensation November 7, 2006
It took less than two seconds for Sheriff Nathan Thornton to peg sexy Skye Wright as trouble. Maybe it was the way she shimmied her hips in that I Dream of Jeannie outfit. Or the huge stack of speeding tickets in her bag. Whatever it was, the woman was belly-dancing her way into his thoughts. Now if only she'd belly-dance into his bedroom.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

*Starred Review* Skye Wright creates excitement wherever she goes, whether teaching yoga to the high-school football team or instructing senior citizens on the finer points of belly dancing. When she is hauled off to jail by the stern but hunky cop Nathan Thornton, a man with a secret, there is an uproar among the fine citizens of Rock Creek. Life then improves radically for Skye when the lottery ticket she bought as a thank-you gift turns out to be a million-dollar winner. Owen, her quiet, wealthy friend, insists that she take the ticket back, a move not appreciated by his nephew and sole heir, while Skye, in her usual offbeat fashion, decides to buy, restore, and reopen the dilapidated Tivoli theater. Linz, known for her fast-paced, snappy romantic comedies, once again sparkles in this heartwarming, funny tale. And her secondary characters, particularly the generous Owen, Skye's New Age mother, and a kitten named Gravity, as well as Skye's overprotective daughter, Toni, who bites anyone she perceives as a threat to her mother, make an already excellent story exceptional. 2.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, really...., April 12, 2007
This review is from: Bad Girls Don't (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
I also am surprised at the positive reviews of this book! I don't often leave reviews, unless the book is really a disappointment. I give the author credit for having some laugh out loud lines though. The characters are not developed well, however....The heroine is really just a spoiled little girl posing as a free spirit. If the character were developed a little better, I might have been able to relate to another side of her.

LOTS of squabbling throughout the book. Witty dialogue is one thing, but constant bickering is not a fun read...

This isn't the worst book I've ever read, and perhaps the author's other books would be more enjoyable. I just wished I hadn't invested my time in this one...

1.0 out of 5 stars Ulcers were what this book gave me., April 7, 2007
This review is from: Bad Girls Don't (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
Wow, I can't believe all of the positive reviews this book got.
I almost threw it away after half way through.
Skye is such a mess. Her excuse for speeding is because it is a rule and she likes to break rules. Linz makes it out as if she is right. That excuse can't fly when there are so many people die each years because speeding drivers lost control of their cars.
I think Linz tries to make it funny but I could not find the humor in it. Skye is a bully in disguise who, like all bullies, is insecured and immature. The way she flies off the handle with everything Nathan says really get on my nerves. Such a childish behavior!
Nathan is too much a nice guy that he deserves someone better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrated, March 12, 2009
This review is from: Bad Girls Don't (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
It's difficult to continue to read a fun plot with a great male main character and entertaining supporting characters when the female lead is so irritating. She and her mother, calling themselves "free spirits", are really just selfish and thoughtless of others. Loved the town, the great lead guy and the fun residents of the town, but the female lead and her mother just sucked the joy right out of it. Couldn't finish the book.
