Here's the low down, this book is the goods. I received Gethard's book yesterday... I finished reading the book yesterday. I have only read one other book in one day before and that was a day where I did nothing but read a book. Yesterday, I worked my office job, got home and saw the book arrived, after all that I proceeded to read the book. Most books don't hold up to my short attention span, requiring weeks for me to get through a similarly sized book. I stayed up way past my self imposed bedtime because I couldn't put this book down. Just like crack, this book is addicting.

This book is for all the losers, social outcasts and straight-up weirdos out there. The stories inspire you to be a better person, to not be afraid to do what you want. On top of all that the stories are funny, I legitimately laughed out loud at part. Who really ever laughs at a book. Gethard has proclaimed himself the King of Authors, with this debut book I got to agree. All authors need to beware because this Gethard is gunning for them.

If you've ever been fortunate enough to experience Chris Gethard, then you don't need to read any further. Just buy this book. You already know the joy of true laughter. Laughter brought on by looking at the absurd reflections in the mirror that Chris points at us all. The laughter of letting go and realizing that we're imperfect awkward beings that should never take ourselves too seriously. For those of you unfamiliar with Chris and are on the fence about making this purchase, please read on.

Naturally extending his surreal and suburban brand of comedy into prose, "A Bad Idea.." is a riot from start to finish. There is not a single moment in this book that isn't both completely unbelievable and absolutely true. Chris proves himself both increasingly foolish and brave with every turn of the page and you'll only identify with him and love him more and more for it. This may be about one man's insane (mis)adventures, but it's truly a chronicle of all of our inner underdogs and a testament to the freedom of our spirits.

You know a book is good when you find yourself falling in love with the author. Chris Gethard is such a wonderful writer, such a funny person, and a genuine guy, I can't imagine anyone not loving this book. I felt so connected to Chris when reading every chapter, because he writes in a way that makes you feel like he's talking to you. I laughed a lot while reading this book, but there were also times when I felt really sad, which I see as a positive thing, to be sure. It tells me that Gethard wasn't trying to make sure his book was always funny or light-hearted, but instead that he just wrote about his experiences and what he felt in those moments.

This book is so good that I was upset when I finished it. I was convinced that I wouldn't be able to even stand the next book I read because the author wasn't Chris. Thankfully, I picked an amazing book the next time around too, but I honestly believe almost any other book wouldn't have been good enough and I may have become some kind of mole person if that were the case.

Geth's stories really helped me through a rough path in my life. Aside from being flat out funny his stories can provide hope and a perspective into better days.

I have read A LOT of humor books (most very disappointing) and this rivals the funniest (hyperchondriac). While hyperchondriac is still funnier, Chris is so honest with his emotional downturns that it's more wholesome. Within 20 min, I managed to both cry and laugh into my pillow, shaking the bed at 2 in the morning. I think that everyone will relate to him - even if less extreme -at some point in their life. I'm pretty mad that it's over. I want him to write another book. Also, I have learned that I don't want a colonic.

You feel as though you ARE Chris as he experiences these painfully awkward events. You only wish you had made the same decisions so you could write a book as brilliant as this

They say time plus tragedy equals comedy, a thread that runs throughout Gethard's book. He's a master of storytelling and a great writer to boot. And frankly, I rarely write reviews, but I'm writing this to tell you to do yourself a favor and buy it.

This book is a great combination of horrible decisions accompanied by way too many specific details and a heaping dose of inappropriate responses.

A Bad Idea I'm About To Do
True Tales of Seriously Poor Judgment and Stunningly Awkward Adventure
Chris Gethard
De Capo Press

This book was honestly one of the best books that told the story of `my life'. It was truly enjoyable .The experience is Chris went through in his life are so unbelievable and funny. He seriously chose some bad ideas and got himself into some crazy situations. I found myself laughing at some of the things he did or what happened to him. Other things like his problems with anxiety and panic attacks. I could relate to. I went through my many years of suffering at the hands of my out of control, anxiety. So I can really understand and feel for him.

Chris's life definitely wasn't a boring one, and neither is this book. You really don't know what to expect next. In this book his life isn't like any other I've ever read about the stories were just so insanely intriguing and funny and out of this world. Insane things happened to him starting at a very young age and he chose decisions that most of us would avoid at all costs.

I loved reading this outrageous biography and I would love to see you show as well. I wasn't familiar with Kris until this book and I can say I am a fan now. This book was definitely a great comic relief life story! I would highly recommend it, and I give it five stars!
