4.0 out of 5 stars simply put..., September 23, 2004
By man_invisible (Dork, PA) - See all my reviews

Enthralling, enchanting, and oddly uplifting, much like a more easily-digestible PJ Harvey or a less dour Beth Gibbons. If the interplay between the music [provided by a multi-faceted lineup] and Lo's seductive/angelic vocals isn't flawless, it's close enough. A rare album that inspires me press "repeat" rather than "eject" once it runs its course.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy... this... album!!, September 29, 2005
Stright out, if you like Portishead in any way... or if you like the trippy beats of Massive Attack... buy this album. You will not regret it.

Lolo had the unfortunate luck of slipping out of the music scene after only one release. She was such a diamond in the rough for me that I try to preach and pass her album on to others. She is phenomenal. Lolo has a creepy, lovely and moody soundscape that I have never heard before or since. It's like she took the best parts of Bjork, Portishead, Dido, Massive Attack and PJ Harvey and molded this beautiful beast that is, "Bad Idea."

"Without You" is probably the most radio friendly song on the album and it's so hauntingly beautiful is gives me chills every single time she breaks into chorus. "Luna" has more of a trip-hop sound and oozes sensuality and seduction. It's pure delerium. "Don't Know" Is probably my favorite with it's divine rollercoaster effect, always changing directions but keeping the beat steady. "Feeding the Flame" is one of the best ending songs on any album, ever! It's so aggressive and passive at the same time.

In order to fully understand this review you must hear her music. This is one of 5 cds I put in the car when I reach for my cd case. I sometimes keep this in my car cd player for weeks at a time. Hands down, the greatest album you have never heard. Absolutely the most underrated album of all time! Please support her, maybe she'll return to the scene someday. I can only hope.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea, December 26, 2002
By Steven Moore (Ann Arbor, MI USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a superb CD for those who like female-fronted techno bands along the lines of Portishead, Garbage, and even Siouxsie & the Banshees (Lolo's vocalist sounds like Siouxsie in places). Recommended.
