5.0 out of 5 stars most entertaining children's book ever!!, June 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Bad Jelly and the witch: A fairy story; [written in his own handwriting] (Hardcover)
Have read this book over and over again throughout the years and also listened to the soundtrack (invaluable if you can get hold of it). A definite must for any child. Appears only to have been published in New Zealand. No-one in the UK has even heard of Bad Jelly the Witch.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wee bit of Milligan Magic!!, June 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Bad Jelly and the witch: A fairy story; [written in his own handwriting] (Hardcover)
If not to say it is the best children's but also the best kid/adult story to ever be heard, ( find the cassette or LP)let alone appear on book , I would be telling a lie. My little girl loves it, so does my wife and many of the adults my age ( I am 33 now!) grew up on Spike's clever ramblings with the cutest hand drawn characters in LUCY, TOM , FLUFFY BUM THE CAT and of course the BAD JELLY THE WITCH herself. LOVE her & her wicked world. You should really treat yourself and let your children discover it too or at least do yourself a favour & a laff and find the book or even better... let spike Milligan read it to you on the recording if you can find it. I have just found the recording after years of searching. This is Famous and will be a classic for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE REPRINT THIS SUPER BOOK FOR KIDS, December 2, 1999
This review is from: Bad Jelly and the witch: A fairy story; [written in his own handwriting] (Hardcover)
THIS STORYBOOK WAS A FAMILY FAVORITE WHEN I WAS GROWING UP (THE 70'S). THE STORY AND CHARACTERS ARE HILARIOUS. THE DRAWINGS ARE PRICELESS. THERE ARE MANY BOOKS ON THE BOOKSHELVES OF MY LOCAL BOOKSTORES THAT DO NOT EVEN TOUCH THIS ONE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I have a child, July 28, 2001
This review is from: Bad Jelly and the witch: A fairy story; [written in his own handwriting] (Hardcover)
This book was one of the most memorable and enjoyable that I read as a child. In reading the other reviews I can see the sentiments and memories repeated.

Now I have my own child I am keen to share the inventive storytelling that stuck in my memory to this day and made books special. As clever as Dahl and and Tolkien, Milligan was a pioneer in the era of childrens writing where "yucky stuff abounds" fast becoming popular now as it appeals to kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Legendary!, December 12, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Bad Jelly and the witch: A fairy story; [written in his own handwriting] (Hardcover)
This book had the most profound effect on me when I was a child. The images and characters that Milligan describes are still with me today. It is funny, entertaining and a must for children of all ages. I have a feeling that it is only available here in NZ. If you can get hold of a copy then you are very lucky!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book!, April 9, 2001

This review is from: Bad Jelly and the witch: A fairy story; [written in his own handwriting] (Hardcover)
I finally have a copy! After years of searching for this classic from my childhood, a friend sent it to me from New Zealand. I too, think that it was only published in NZ in any real quantities.

If you've never read this book it is a must. The recording by Spike Milligan is even better! Hilarious for both kids and adults. (Very rare to find copies but can be found in online in MP3 format occasionally) Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad Jelly and the witch, December 23, 1999
By
This review is from: Bad Jelly and the witch: A fairy story; [written in his own handwriting] (Hardcover)
This has to be one of the most memoriable books that I have ever read. Spike was big in our house and in our school Library (I remember I had to wait many weeks because it was always booked). A most for all children and adults. Funny though. I get fustrated when no one knows what I am going on about when talking about Bad Jelly (living in Australia now, no one has ever heard of it). Please read this book, it has the best illustrations too.

I loved this book as a child because it was a little riskay. The characters include: Tim, Rose, Dulboot the giant, Fluffy-bum the cat, Mudwiggle the strongest worm in the world and ofcourse Badjelly. By the way the book is called Badjelly the Witch.

This review is from: Bad Jelly and the witch: A fairy story; [written in his own handwriting] (Hardcover)
Badjelly is the craziest witch I've heard! She is VERY wicked. She eats little children and she hates god. I think Tim and Rose are very brave children. Blink blonk's dog and the tin lion are funny! If you have not heard this story yet, you must go and see it. It's very interesting. Spike Milligan's daughter Jane has drawn a lovley picture of Jim the eagle and Badjelly. BEWARE! Badjelly is travelling from New Zealand to Australia and she's coming to eat you! (I'm only 7 years old. If you have any other interesting stories like this, please tell me.)
