Wow!...,

I've been a big fan of Meredith Brooks since day one, so when I heard that this new CD had been released, I ran right out and bought it. The first couple of songs had me rather annoyed and thinking that the album's title was an apt one... but by the time "Pleasure" (song #4) kicks in with its delightfully infectious melody, there's no turning back. Meredith delivers one strikingly beautiful tune after another until the album ends with the gorgeous, emotional "Stand" and makes you hit PLAY on your CD player to listen to it all over again! I've listened to the whole CD three times already today and it gets better each and every time. "You Don't Know Me" and "Where Lovers Meet" are two of the most well-structured, melodic, and memorable pieces of music that have been released in recent memory. Through and through, this album contains the best musicianship we've yet heard from Meredith, and also captures every bit of her characteristic optimism and positive human qualities... and it does it even more wholeheartedly and introspectively than either of her first two albums. There's a lot of passion, happiness, and love in these songs, and it all comes out soaringly. Thank you, Meredith, for what I truly believe is your best album yet!!

A Bold Step For Our Ms Brooks...,
By
This review is from: Bad Bad One (Audio CD)
"Blurring The Edges" had kind of an "edge" to it and Meredith got our attention with her first big hit, (you know the one), and "Deconstruction" showed us not so much a soft side as much as an honest one, and I was impressed. The music was tight and energetic. On "Bad Bad One", she gets right to the point of her feelings through her writing, and the song titles tell alot. You know what the songs are going to be about and sometimes even how they will feel, because Meredith hides nothing. I respect her more as a songwriter here and now because she can express herself without using vulgarity in her descriptions or language, and we can still relate (even if I am a guy). I have listened to this only twice and I know the above "4" will probably go up to a "5". My only-only thing is that I would like for her to reach out to me-us-her friends and let us party with her on a couple of tracks. Of course, without getting "High". Otherwise, I give Meredith a lot of credit, and thank her for her album.

One of the best rock albums of the year,

Wow ! I was kinda surprised to notice her new album was out, since I didn't even know she saw still in the business music -I don't listen to radio much. Well..this is an excellent album ! I'm suprised Amazon editors didn't criticize it yet. Every single song is worth it, nice melodies, great guitars, lyrics, it's obviously her best album. Her style is unique, and pretty good, it's less 'poppy' than Alanis latest stuff, more rock'n'roll than Sheryl, somewhat floating between Pretenders mixed w/ Fiona Apple & rock guitars, and she absolutly deserves a nice position in the female rock universe. Go listen to mp3s, then buy the album, like every music fan should do.
