Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Filled with hilarious, undoctored photographs, cutting captions, "Bad President Early Warning Signs," and "Sad Truths" about the Bush administration, "Bad President" captures the US commander-in-chief doing what he unintentionally does best - the word "clueless" comes to mind - and delivers a book's worth of long-overdue laughs. Releasing in early October, this is the perfect impulse gift for anyone counting down to the end of this administration, or just needing more ammunition to make fun of Americans!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Humor, October 20, 2006
Full of real (not doctored) photos, mostly of Bush in a wide variety of settings, but also including his minders/mentors as well. Each photo is labeled with an unflattering (but funny, and appropriate) caption, and several also are accompanied with facing pages containing relevant factoids titled "The Sad Truth."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gift, October 25, 2006
By Steve D (Little Neck, New York USA) - See all my reviews
This would be a great gift for anyone who is a fan of President Bush. It is more than just funny captions to pictures, because everytime you think it's all in fun, you are hit with a "sad" fact about the President. It's two books in one, pictures of Bush & his staff with very funny captions, many that hit home & true "sad" facts about things that this administration has done. Not very funny. I read it & everytime I laughed, I read a fact & wanted to cry.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad? Well, we knew that, January 4, 2007
By wiredweird "wiredweird" (Earth, or somewhere nearby) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
Most of this book features actual photos from the news services, retroactively captioned. For example, one shows Pres. Bush II pointing towards his own head. The new caption reads "Because this part of my prefrontal cortex did not develop normally, I have trouble anticipating the consequences of my actions." Amusing, but rarely up to the standard of a good editorial cartoonist. Scattered throughout, there are "The Sad Truth" features: one-page factual essays, on things like Bush proposing anti-scientific teaching of science, gutting of poverty programs that benefit hundreds of thousands of elders and pregnant women, and lots more.

The format lets you pick up any page at random, and read them in any order. That makes it good bathroom reading, or fair amusement for anyone else whose attention is elsewhere. That's about it - funny pictures that miss the truly humorous moments, and factoids too disjoint to sustain well-deserved outrage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick, light read
This is a curious book in that just when the captions get going the authors weigh down with the serious, sad parts of the Bush presidency (of which there are many, of course). Read more
