Book Description

"Scott Nicholson is a terrific writer. Like Stephen King, he has an eye and ear for the rhythms of rural America, and like King he knows how to summon serious scares. My advice? Buy everything he writes. This guy's the real deal."-- Bentley Little, author of His Father's Son

BAD STACKS is the complete text of three story collections covering supernatural, paranormal, horror, and mystery tales. A total of 26 stories originally published in professional magazines and anthologies such as Cemetery Dance, Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine, Shivers, Crimewave, Blue Murder Magazine, and more. The box set of 120,000 words also includes four essays.

Scott Nicholson is the international bestselling author of 15 novels, six screenplays, four children’s books, and four comic book series, as well as 80 short stories. His novels include LIQUID FEAR, CHRONIC FEAR, THE HARVEST, AS I DIE LYING, THE RED CHURCH, DISINTEGRATION, and more. Send your questions to his Amazon Author Central page by clicking on his name below the book title at the top of this page.

Guest contributors include J.R. Rain, J.A. Konrath, Jonathan Maberry, Simon Wood, Lisa Morton, Joe McKinney, Nate Kenyon, Jeremy C. Shipp, Joseph Nassise, Kealan Patrick Burke, and Maria Alexander.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!!!! February 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you like a variety of short stories then this is the book for you. Scott never disappoints and this set is great. The stories are short enough to read one or two on a break and long enough to keep things interesting. Definitely a book worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings December 5, 2012

I'm beginning to realize that boxed sets aren't the best bargains for me. I find that while I like some of the books involved, I hardly ever like them all. I like this author, but I'm not crazy about all his work. In this case, I liked "Ashes" and "American Horror" but I really didn't care for "Curtains". Overall this was a good read, but I still recommend buying the books separately according to the reviews. It saves a lot of headache in the end. Unless of course this is your absolute favorite writer and you don't care if a book here or there is a flop.

I believe the writer only creates half the story, and that you complete it by bringing your imagination, experience, and heart to the tale. I am happy to share the journey with you.

I've written more than 20 novels, about 80 short stories, four children's books, some comic books, screenplays, and a couple of non-fiction books, as well as five collaborations with J.R. Rain. Many of my tales are based on supernatural legends from the Southern Appalachian Mountains, and I also write mystery and suspense thrillers that are most often compared to the work of Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

I've also published Liquid Fear and Chronic Fear with Amazon's Thomas & Mercer imprint and McFall with 47North, as well as a number of audiobooks and foreign translations. I love hearing from you, because you're the reason I do this, so let's connect! Learn more about my work at
