Book Description

June 15, 2006
A man of wisdom once said to me, “Lee; it’s better to have a great story and no grammar skills than great grammar skills and no story. So I took those words to heart and sat down to tell my story, not just of good and evil but a story of hidden kindness. This is the first book in a trilogy and will be followed by, Shadows of Rage and A Prayer for O’Malley. So follow the life of a half Irish, half Italian, 30 year veteran Mobile police officer who has lost everything he holds dear to him and now has turned to alcohol and women to satisfy his longing for the answers. He lives in a world of his own and allows no one to enter without his approval and that is not easily obtained. He lives and upholds the law with wisdom and instinct and enforces it with his fist. Jake calls his successes and failures in life, ‘The luck of the Irish.” This book should unfold very much like a movie and that’s because it was from a screenplay I had written a few years back. So sit down and enter a world that you might find very funny and very sad. Maybe in the process of reading this story you’ll reevaluate your way of thinking about law enforcement and remember this, ‘The most beautiful part of an oak tree is the leaves and branches, but its life comes from the ugly root.

About the Author

My name is Lee Kohn and I join the Mobile Police Department in 1977 and left in 1993. I love to write fiction with a touch of the truth and believe this story appeals to a wide audience. My Character in one of a kind and this book is part 1 of a trilogy. I’m 49 and have several drafts in the making. I have allowed 18 people to read this story and only had one bad review. Badge 13 in the first in a three book story line involving the same main character. ‘Jake O’Malley’.

5.0 out of 5 stars Badge 13, June 5, 2007
This review is from: Badge 13: Part 1 (Paperback)
Not long before I met Lee Kohn at Barns & Noble in Mobile, where he was
promoting his book, I had read an article titled, "Things you should always
do". Well one of the things was, if your in a book store and there is an
author promoting their book, you should always buy a copy. With that said,
I enjoyed talking with him, and bought a copy of his book.I enjoyed reading
it and can't wait to read the second book Shadows of rage. The Main
character is Jake O'Malley, all I will say is, you will either love him
or hate him (I loved him), but either way he will have you laughing and you
will love the book. Great read couldn't put it down.
