Product Description

Badger’s New Patriot Airbrush, Model 105-1, is a dual action, internal mix, gravity feed airbrush with a permanently mounted 1/3 ounce color cup . Designed as the gravity feed version of Badger’s popular siphon feed “Anthem” airbrush, the Patriot delivers superior performance with its innovative precision design. The Patriot’s two angle needle tip precisely mates with the Patriot’s cone shaped nozzle enabling a single needle/nozzle (.50 millimeter) configuration to spray virtually any desired material, eliminating the need for various needle/nozzle sizes. The Patriot’s body design provides exacting balance and long term user comfort; an excellent choice for detail applications, or when only a small amount of color is required. Proudly made in the USA.

As the title says I am still learning to use an airbrush and have only had a handful of chances to give it a proper go so far.

Depending on the distance you spray, you can get a real fine line for small detailing and about a quarter size "consistent" spray for coating model cars.

This was my first airbrush which I bought for scale modeling and model railroading. I chose this brush over the Badger's newer offering, the Renegade Velocity because it was $40 cheaper and had a slightly larger tip making it more of an all around brush.

The first thing I noticed when opening the case -- which it comes with a nice padded case that snaps shut -- is that the build quality is very well done. The brush feels solid and sturdy in your hand. The back half of the handle area screws off and on with ease. The trigger pulls back smooth. One interesting feature of this brush is that it has a cut away on the back half that lets you remove the needle without taking the handle off. This works but I've found it's easier to put the needle back into the brush without the handle on, so most of the time I just take it off anyways.

Another feature of this brush is that it has a trigger tension adjustment. It comes from the factory set to max (which the instructions point out should be fine for most people) but there is also a small tensioning nut that lets you loosen it up a bit.

From reading the manual that it came with it seems to include a lifetime warranty. For the first year Badger will replace/repair anything for you at their cost and after the first year they will replace/repair manufacturer defects provided that you pay for shipping.

Overall I've been very happy with this brush choice. I should point out though that compared to the Renegade Velocity the one thing this brush does not have is a trigger stop which lets you limit how far back the trigger can be pulled. While that is a nice-to-have I haven't yet come upon a situation where that was really necessary (then again maybe I haven't used it enough to hit that situation).

Do not buy this airbrush from Amazon!!!

Like the latest reviewer, I fell for suddenly discounted price that Amazon was selling these for ($60). They are sold by Amazon and are advertised as NEW yet they are anything but. The first one received had clear scratches on it and on further inspection had dried up paint on the needle and in the cup. The second one I got (after contacting Amazon and asking for a replacement, which I was promised will be NEW) was oily to the touch, also had some scratches on it and had a very dirty tip assembly. Again, it's a brush that's been clearly USED and that Amazon is trying to sell as NEW!!!

I did not even bother to try these airbrushes out. They are going straight back to Amazon. Though I've heard good things about the Badger Patriot line it's unfortunate that Amazon has to act like this. I like to buy a lot of things from Amazon but it's unacceptable for them to do something this, I'm very disappointed in Amazon.

I am a longime 1/35th scale armor modeller and have been using a Badger Anthem airbrush since 2005. I bought a Badger Patriot 2 years ago to try a gravity feed airbrush. while I prefer the larger Anthem trigger with its optional rubber top, it was easy to transition to the Patriot. The airbrush is well balanced and fits my hand just fine. I have no problems with spraying enamels or acrylics and find it a breeze to clean. The paint cup holds plenty for any 1/35th scale model and, with practice, the airbrush is capable of freehanding camouflage with a steady hand. This airbrush is an excellent choice for the beginner or experienced modeller who wants a well made general purpose airbrush.

I purchased the Badger Patriot 105 for scale modeling. I've built models on and off for years but never used an airbrush. After allot of research I chose this airbrush for several reasons:

1. Very well made airbrush and reasonably priced.

2. I'm using the airbrush for scale model painting. The size of the needle is just fine for my needs.

3. The Patriot is all chrome silver. I felt that it would be easier to see in the cup and make sure I cleaned it well compared to the darker color cup of the Velocity.

4. The warranty can't be beat.

5. Parts are easy to find. In fact, I was in Michael's Arts and Crafts and saw needles and other parts for sale in the store.

6. Badger airbrushes are made and assembled in America. It's a family owned business that makes a really great product.

I have had and used Badger Air brushes 200NH for 30 years. I decided it was time to upgrade to the Model 105. I was very pleased with its performance and had no problem going from a single action air brush to a dual action air brush. I would recommend the Model 105 for anybody that wants a used friendly tool which paints magnificently.

The Badger Patriot 105 is a great starter airbrush for fine art and hobby applications. Its gravity fed so its easy to clean and switch colors fast! The only thing to note is that it has a .75mm needle which is rather large. So yes you will be able to get decently thin lines but if your looking for super fine lines I recommend something like the badger renegade velocity which is pretty much built the same with the exception that it has a .21mm needle which will help with your lines. All in all though i definitely recommend this it is well built and badger has a great reputation when it comes to their lifetime warranty!
