Badger Anti Bug Balm Push Up Stick 1.5 oz. (42 g) Badger Anti-Bug Balm Push-Up Stick is 100% natural, certified organic, eco-friendly and great for kids! Anti-Bug Balm contains no DEET, petrolatum or other chemicals, and independent lab tests show high efficacy - between three and four hours for mosquitos and flies. Anti-Bug Balm provides pleasant smelling protection that can be used by the whole family. This is a tried and true formulation, blended to strike fear in the hearts of biting insects everywhere. It smells good, feels good, soothes dry skin, and it really works. Badger Bill personally tested this concept in Tamil Nadu, India, where the Malaria mosquito is especially fierce, and in biting fly wilderness of the George Okefenokee Swamp. He found it pleasant to use and very effective at preventing bites. Good for the skin, bad for the bug, Badger's original Anti-Bug Balm uses pure essential oils to naturally keep bugs, mosquitos and insects away from you and your family. AntiBug Balm is totally safe and totally effective! This is a tried and true formulation of Organic Citronella, Cedar and Lemongrass Essential oils, which have been used for centuriesto naturally repel insects. It smells good, feelsgood, and really works - without DEET, petrolatum or other chemicals. This is the same formula as the popular Anti Bug Balm, an organic, all-natural product to repel the occasional bug, insect or mosquito. Independent lab tests show high efficacy - between three and four hours for mosquitoes.

I had high hopes for Badger's insect repellent. I love their other products, and didn't hesitate to give this one a try, particularly after reading that it scores a zero hazard with EWG's Skin Deep Database.

At the beginning of the season it seemed like it might be having some effect, which would wear off after 20 minutes. But by the time the mosquitoes were out in droves, its ineffectiveness against these relentless pests became apparent. We are positively swarming with mosquitoes here in the balmy southern edge of South Carolina.

I wasn't hoping for a miracle product, and didn't expect one, but the mosquitoes seem, quite simply, unfazed by this lovely-smelling, easy-to-apply insect repellent. In the five minutes it takes to pick blueberries in our backyard, we get about a dozen bites - with or without Badger's protection.

I can't compare this product to those containing DEET. Being one of those loathsome hippie types, I have never and will never use DEET on my children or myself. For proponents of the use of DEET, it's worth noting that DEET is a skin and lung irritant, is toxic to aquatic life, is suspected to have reproductive toxicity, is toxic to the brain and nervous system, is possibly mutagenic, effects the kidney and renal system, and is a possible endocrine system disruptor. Yuck. I'd rather throw my money away on another potentially useless non-toxic product or choose our outdoor hours more carefully.

I think it's great that this stuff works for some people in some locations, but I would advise potential buyers that for some people in other locations, it's about as effective as saying "Go away mosquitoes!"

For my family, the search will continue for a safe and effective mosquito repellent.

I bought this to send to relatives in sticky and mosquito mecca Houston, Texas. I had heard great things about it- that travelers and explorers alike swore by its ability to fend off all those flying pesky bugs. I thought it might help to ward off the West Nile mosquitoes that are prevalent in the area but I had no idea how great it would actually work. My whole family down South now swears by it. No harsh chemicals and it does not stain your clothes like some chemical based repellents do and best of all (did I mention?) the stuff really works! No mosquito bites even in heavily infested areas. Enjoy the outdoors again and if you work outdoors this is a must.

I love to go to warm places with lots of bitting bugs, plus I kayak like crazy during the summer months here in NJ. I can say without a doubt that it really does work. I have a friend who gets bit when there are not bugs it seems and it has worked on her. I keep a small tin with me when I travel or when I kayak. I just purchased the stick - will see how that works out. All I can say is that it is easy to carry, easy to use and does work for me!

I have been confidently using this product on myself and my small children for years now. It smells like citronella, rosemary, sandalwood/patchouli... it smells great. I always get comments about how good I smell when I'm using this product. And it works, even camping in deep woods the mosquitos stay away from us. I've been using the balm out of the tin, but am looking forward to the push-up stick - it's like you keep bugs away and moisturize at the same time. No complaints about this product at all. It's good to not be spraying chemicals all over yourself and your children.

All the other reviews I have found on this stuff have been positive, and I just can't figure out how that is possible. This stuff is horrible. It does absolutely nothing to stop or repel mosquitos. On the contrary, it seems to even attract them. I've worked for 8 summers as a biological field tech, basically spending 2-3 months at a time camping out every night and working in the field everyday. For years, I have relied on good old fashioned high concentration DEET, which always got the job done. This year, I thought I should try to go a bit healthier with this stuff, and it was a huge mistake. I'm writing this in the field right now, and I have a shiny layer of this stuff all over me. And I'm watching mosquitos by the DOZEN land on glistening, balmed skin and not hesitating to bite. Literally hundreds flock to me when I step outside (which does not happen when I'm not wearing this crap), and they aren't remotely bothered by it.

Maybe it is good enough for hippies or a trip to the park or something. But do not mistake this stuff for a serious bug stopping solution if you are in any kind of real bug country. It DOES NOT WORK. Well, I take that back - it is a wonderful skin moisturizer, but a bit expensive for that alone. And it does smell nice, I will giive it that.

I first bought this in a local organic foods market years ago and I LOVE it. I live in South Carolina, where the hot and steamy summers breed gigantic mosquitoes; and mosquitoes absolutely adore me & my son. It's like they think we're they're own little human blood-buffet. Ugh. Normally I make my own aromatherapeutic repellent, but sometimes I don't have the time to make it and I'm out. I'd tried various other brands of natural mosquito repellents, and they work to varying degrees, but this is the best store-bought product that I've found. When we wear it, neither my son nor I are bothered by mosquitoes at all. I try to keep at least one tin around at all times during mosquito season, which with our long summer here runs from May to October. I'd give Badger's Anti-Bug Balm 5 stars except it is greasy, so we really only wear it when we're camping, puttering in the garden, or hanging out on our porch with friends. Don't forget to dab some on your ears, neck, face, and feet!
