4.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful, Sturdy Bassinet
I am very pleased with this bassinet. We ordered the Toile--the proper name I think for the pattern is Sage Toile according to Badger Basket. I had no shipping problems (i.e., broken/ missing/wrong pieces). Assembly was easy.

Also sheet was thread bare, I'm afraid to wash it.

aesalsa (New Orleans, Louisiana) - See all my reviews
I am very pleased with this bassinet. We ordered the Toile--the proper name I think for the pattern is Sage Toile according to Badger Basket. I had no shipping problems (i.e., broken/ missing/wrong pieces). Assembly was easy.

PROS:
- Unique, round, sturdy design
- Convenient bottom shelf to hold diaper items (pack of diapers, container of wipes, rash cream and room for a bit more)
- Made of wood
- Easy to move around the room
- Beautiful bedding is included and is machine washable
- One can lift baby easily form it

CONS:
- Bassinet cannot fit through doorway
- Ribbons on bedding may get frayed in the washing machine if one doesn't fasten the Velcro loops for the bumper/curtain before washing
- Comes with only one(1) fitted sheet. You must order a pack of 2 from Badger Basket that only come in Pure White, so it won't match rest of bedding when one uses the separately ordered sheets

DETAILS TO CONSIDER:

-The Sage Toile bedding that I received is a cream background with a light/medium "regular-green" toile print. The toile depicts small children playing outdoors (swinging, fishing, see-sawing, climbing trees). It is very tasteful, subtle, and classic-looking.
-The fitted sheet is also cream -- no pattern.
-The bassinet wood itself is white.
-Mattress is thin, but sufficient, safe, and firm.

1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE - DON'T BUY!, September 6, 2005
This review is from: Badger Basket Elegance Round Baby Bassinet, White with Ecru Waffle (Baby Product)
I registered for this item & it was ordered for me by my mother-in-law. When I received the shipment, the circular framing of the bassinet was broken. I contacted BRU/Amazon and they picked it up/sent a new one. When I got the second one, it was broken in a different place. I was more than a little irritated by this point, so I called them to complain/make arrangements for a 3rd shipment, because although irritated, this was still the bassinet I wanted because of the visual appeal. I was told I would get a 3rd shipment, but a few days later my mother-in-law was notified that they would NOT be sending a 3rd, and that she would be refunded due a more widespread problem with this particular item than they anticipated. I was extremely upset because the item was still available to purchase online (was not available to purchase in BRU stores, if so I wouldn't have even tried to have it shipped again) to anyone else, and how dare them decide for me that I wouldn't be getting another one.
The bottom line was the shipping charges to Amazon/BRU, it costs them more & more each time they ship a new one/pick up an old one. They finally agreed to send a 3rd as "an exception" and yes when I received that one it was ALSO BROKEN. Now this not only makes me wonder about the sturdiness of the craftsmanship, but also WHY DOESN'T THE MANUFACTURER PACK THIS ITEM BETTER???? I did confirm it is packed/shippped directly from Badger Basket Company, not Amazon, but there was "nothing that could be done" to change the packing method, not even labeling the box "fragile" or "handle with care". I have read a few other customer reviews that mention the same problem with the poor packing of this item. There is no foam padding, no bubble wrap, no cardboard inserts, NOTHING to protect the item. I have received dvd shipments packed more carefully than this!
At this point I wanted nothing to do with this awful product, nor would I ever purchase something by Badger Basket Company again, (also the sheets only come in white and are paper thin, I don't think I would put my baby on them).
I gladly accepted the refund for this bassinet and purchased a different one that is MUCH more functional, rated better by doctors/baby experts, and is able to roll around & move right up to my bed. The "Elegance Round Bassinet" has no wheels, is stationary and quite a bit heavier, and let's face it, a bassinet is something I plan to use for a little while then probably store in the attic (the one I ended up purchsing folds up very compactly and fits in it's own storage bag, takes up a lot less room than the round), so my second choice actually ended up being muuuuuuch better.
One more thing, the quality isn't quite as nice as it looks online, but how would anyone know since that is the only way to acquire it??)
Save yourself some time and a headache, do not get this no matter how cute you think it looks.
If I could give 0 stars I would.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Bed and NO problems with mine, October 11, 2005
This review is from: Badger Basket Elegance Round Baby Bassinet, White with Ecru Waffle (Baby Product)
First, I hate to hear about all the problems with broken pieces shipped, I have shopped Amazon.com for a long time and have had lots of problems with damaged stuff in the past. Fortunately, I struck gold with this piece. I wanted a round bassinet and paying 500.00 at the local baby palace was not my idea of a good investment since this probably is my last baby... The price is good. One downfall is it has just one sheet and the shape isn't available in convenient stores like Babies R Us. However, someone did mention purchasing replacements at the Badger website, but 24.00 seems unreasonable. Instead what I do is use large sized receiving blankets (which are softer anyway) or large sized regular bassinet sheets and use the old fashioned clip on sheet straps under the mattress. Which brings me to the next point. The mattress is thin but,it should be because it makes it more firm and this is safer for the baby. They should lie flat and well supported, it is not as firm as a carpeted floor, so don't worry about the baby being uncomfortable. The bottom shelf does fall down but a little glue will secure it. The shelf IS NOT NECESSARY, it DOES NOT hold the legs together as a previous customer review stated... The bolts keep the legs very secured. It was also stated that the bed doesn't have wheels... Mine does. The only downfall with that, the bed doesn't fit through standard doorways. But that's fine for my baby, because she should learn that bedtime is in the bedroom. Naptime as well. The bed is very secure, very sturdy. Easy to assemble once you understand the directions it gives... LOL! I just think that some new mom's are under a lot of stress with hormonal shifts and may be lacking the humor of it all. (With exception to shipping damaged parts, that's never humorous).
Personal preference is the key to the game when raising a baby!
Good luck to all!

2.0 out of 5 stars not as cute as pictured, September 23, 2005
I thought this was the cutest bassinet ever, but I read the bad reviews & decided I must see one in person before I buy it. I have to say I am not buying it. It just is not real sturdy and the matress is the really cheap one that comes with your changing table but no one uses. My husband said he could fix all of the problems but for this amount of money I think it should come ready to use. The screw holes are a major eyesore and the wood is flimsy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bassinet: 5 stars Bedding: 1 star Overall: 3 stars, March 28, 2005

This review is from: Badger Basket Elegance Round Baby Bassinet, White with Ecru Waffle (Baby Product)
The Good:
The bassinet is sturdy. Unlike many bassinets, it seems strong and could definitely hold much, much more than the 20 lb. weight limit (not that I'm recommending you ignore the weight limit).

The shelf underneath is great.

It has wheels so you can easily move it around the room.

The Not-So-Good:
If you want to move it into another room, you will need to take it apart, as it will not fit through standard doorways. (I did realize this before I bought it, but still felt it should be mentioned.)

The bedding shrinks....a lot. I had to sew extra ribbons onto the bumper to pull the top back. Otherwise, it curled inward.

Several of the ribbons frayed in the wash. Of course, I had to replace them with new ribbons.

UPDATE: I have contacted the manufacturer about the problems that I had with the bedding. They have promised to send me replacements.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Bassinet, May 9, 2005

This review is from: Badger Basket Elegance Round Baby Bassinet, White with Ecru Waffle (Baby Product)
I love this bassinet. It you are looking for something beautiful and unique this is the one. If you're wondering what the color Ecru is like it's darker then egg shell and lighter then tan.The bassinet itself is white and the pleating and bows are white. The color looks like an ivory wedding invitation. I hope that helps because it's hard to tell on the screen. The assembly was easy. I did it myself at 7 months pregnant. You can go online and order extra sheets at Badger's website. They only come in white. You can't find round sheets at the the store.I shopped around and this was the best price.

I did have a problem with my first order. One of the bassinet bars was broken. I contacted Amazon and they picked up the broken order and replaced it with a new one in days. I was very happy with the service. They could probably avoid shipping breakage if it was packed a little better. Everything worked out and I love this bassinet!

3.0 out of 5 stars Disenchanted, April 16, 2005
I fell in love with this bassinet after having seen in online and ordered it for our newborn. After having received and assembled it, I felt that it looked very bulky and awkward. The rim around the bassinet has exposed screws, which detract from the "elegance", the stand which supports the canopy is crooked, and this bassinet (contrary to what I had imagined before ordering) cannot be moved from room to room, without disassembling it first. Finally, ordering an extra set of "elegance round" sheets (which one should have, of course)is inconvenient and costs $24.00 for a set of 2 extremely poor quality, mostly polyester, odd white colored sheets - I would not sleep on these sheets, hardly something nice for a newborn.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Princess Bassinette!, July 14, 2005
This bassinette is absolutely gorgeous and was a delight to assemble with full, easy-to-understand instructions included. My Mom and I put it together quickly and easily, and it's not only gorgeous but very sturdy as well. If you want a beautiful piece of furniture that can be passed down through generations and will make your little one look like a princess, this is the bassinette for you! Take a look at the enlarged photos to see the pattern on the material. Laurie in Stillwater, NJ

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply Breath taking, April 29, 2006
By
This is the most beautiful bassinet I've ever laid eyes on. The picture does it no justice. It looks like something from a fairy tale movie. The item comes in a large box and you only have to assemble the base that it stands on. It's very easy to put together, sturdy, and, great directions. I put it together in less than an hour. The only thing that was wrong, is their is a small chip on the black laquer rods. It's not to send back and I might have done that taking it out of the box.
