Best Interavtice Fiction Ever.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Badlands of Hark (Paperback)
Haveing been a fan of R.L. Stine since Dragonwalk, I loved this book. Much more darker humor then the stuff he writes today, incuding many morbid death sceans if you choose the wrong path. Still stands out as his best work to date.

The Badlands of Hark review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Badlands of Hark (Paperback)
This book is amazing,as only the most perfect path can win you the game.It includes an uncharted maze,(which is difficult, but rewarding),bloodthirsty monsters, nomads and collectable items. Also, some uncalled for humor comes in the form of being eaten, starving, and simply burning in the three suns. One of the best game books ever.

This review is from: The Badlands of Hark (Paperback)
During the 80s, this book was part of some periodic mail-in orders that my school teachers conducted to promote reading. It took several weeks to process, but when she made the announcement that the books had arrived, I remember getting a feeling of overwhelming excitement (similar to a feeling I get when an Amazon package arrives in the mail, on a toned down scale).. as well as extreme frustration at having to wait until the end of the day before she handed out the merchandise!
So I checked out this book by R.L. Stine, noticing the cool map of Hark and various sketches, and the unique branching-out style of storytelling. And hence began my fascination with the world of RPG. You are a bounty hunter on this gloomy planet, in search of a renowned treasure trove. There is only one correct path, and choosing the wrong one will either leave you burnt to a crisp in the scorching harkian desert, a helpless morsel of one of it's indigenous monsters, a headless decor used by a marauding nomad, or lost in its unforgiving dungeons and marshlands. My grandma ordered the solution for me by mailing Mr Stine and complimenting him on a fine book. The solution letter showed the correct path, as well a note stating that he was happy she enjoyed the book. I wish I still had that letter, brings back great memories. |
