If you feel the need to "tune out" for a little while, this collection may be just what the doctor ordered. As a whole, good adjectives to describe it include peaceful, soothing, atmospheric, relaxing...well, you get the picture...no distortion guitars here except for "A Little While" and "Hardcore Romantics", which, along with "German Love", are the only higher-energy, upbeat songs.
The recording techniques and production of the majority of these tracks are refreshing...a lot are rough-around-the-edges, and not one is super polished to perfection. "German Love sticks out with its in-your-face drum track, and there's one 'put-you-in-a-trance' instrumental (B Minor). And while this collection may lack an absolutely 'killer' track, some of the songs in the top five of the line-up come close..."Dynamite Walls" from Hayden starts the sampler out strong, and is my personal favorite. Overall, a winner indeed! Maybe the best things in life ARE free.

I really like the songs on this album and have listened to it three times since I downloaded it last week, more than music that I actually paid for. Click the button, it's worth the time.

I just felt like I had to post a review as the entire album was a free download and every single track is 4 stars or above. The album starts out strong with "Dynamite Walls" which starts out nice and slow and builds up with a great beat. "Brotherhood of Man" is a nice instrumental piece that reminds me of Edie Brickell. "Find Me, Ruben Olivares" has a nice guitar melody that drives it along. "Sick as a Gun" just kicks it up a bit and is a really good song. Good melody, good harmonies, and nice clean instruments. "Hollow Heart" is a nice finger picking song, in fact, most of the songs in this album have a really good steel string/classical guitar basis for the songs. "B Minor" can be listened to again and again and again with a great strong base rhythm - Awesome is the best word for it! "I Am History" reminds me of My Bloody Valentine - fun and driving through to the end. The only song that is a letdown on the entire album is "Sooner". It's not a bad song, but next to all these other excellent songs on this album, it just doesn't hold up. "German Love" gets the groove back on and sounds great, getting the pulse back up. "A Little While", "Come Down Slowly" and "Hardcore Romantics" finishes the album out strongly.
This album is excellent and really worth the download, especially given the cost! Can't recommend it enough!

Songs like these mellow, drifting tunes are usually not my cup of tea.
I can't stop listening to them over & over again. There is something special in Come Down Slowly ... really.

The price was right and I liked all the cuts on this CD. Well worth trying. Reminded me of the Indip-Pop on the soundtrack to "GARDEN STATE". New acts I did not knowm, but will search out. Great comp.

I downloaded this sampler sometime in December, and I'm still listening to it. The track by innocence mission is the best. I now have almost everything by IM in my collection and I would have never discovered them wo this sampler. Just download this sampler k. At best, you'll discover some new band and be totally excited about music again. at worst, it's free.

I downloaded this some time ago but only got to listen to it today. I had to stop what I was doing in order to see which song it was that was playing on my iTunes. It's made my day brighter, my muscles relax and my lips curve slightly upwards. I hardly ever leave reviews but was compelled to do so this time. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! It's that good. Pure and simple.

Typical sampler containing hit and miss tracks but "B Minor" is an excellent instrumental. I can visualize a number of movies where this would be an excellent closing track before dropping to the credits. "I am History" is decent too. Worth a listen.
