One note - due to this style of insulation, it feels like my toes are being squeezed.

After doing quite a bit of research, shopping around and talking to people, I ordered these boots through Amazons' selected dealer. The service was extremely fast and the boots arrived on time. We had some snow recently here in New Jersey and it gave me a chance to put these boots to the test. They are very easy to put on and remove. They are true to size and fit perfectly. Best of all, these are warm and waterproof. I was outside for about two hours with the temperature in the mid twentys. Did not feel any coldness at all. The Baffin boot is a winner.

I just got these boots. I spent 4 hours on the ice, fishing in 20 degree weather, and my feet never got cold. I wanted to test them out so I only wore regular socks and now I don't know what I'm going to do with all of my heavy winter socks. I couldn't recommend these enough.

    1 Year Update:
These boots are still warm, however: They are not completely waterproof, only the lower rubber part. After light use over the period of a year the stitching attaching the upper began to come out and they started to leak. I emailed to company and they told me that the upper portion of the boot wasn't waterproof and refused to offer a repair or replacement of any kind. I stitched them up myself and applied Gorilla glue to the seams and it seems to be working. They are very warm, and with a more customer friendly company and little higher quality build, I would buy another; but due to the fact that the next pair could fall apart with no possible recourse, I will be purchasing my next pair from another company.

Working in remote regions of Alaska for the last six years, these boots have served me well and I would gladly buy another pair if the first ever wears out. They've been put through test after test in temperatures below -40, in deep snow and slush, on gravel and even run over once and they are still waterproof and warm. They have excellent grip on glaze ice. The only time I even felt a little cold in them was after working outside in Barrow, Alaska when it was -35 and I was out for over four hours and although my toes were a bit chilly, my foot was safely warm and protected from frost bite. The fit is snug and the removable liner makes for easy cleaning and drying. Yes, I have to dry the liner from time to time when it is over +20 deg F because my feet get a little too warm and I sweat. Durable, sturdy, snug, warm, and dry.

This was my first pair of Baffins and I will never buy a different brand of winter boot. They are awesome. Baffins is a Canadian brand of boots so the measurements on cold rate are done by Canadian standards. -40C is the same as 200gram insulation for American boots. If you need more than the normal 200g insulation look at Baffins -50,-60,-100C boots for more insulation as you need it. Most people are fine with -40 boots like these and this pair as worked out very well for me. Baffins are made with a synthetic rubber sole that grips well w/o every being squishy. The tread on these is great and much better than other brands offer. Because these are boots made for walking in the snow they have a very strong structure to the bottom that allows you to stomp all day w/o hurting your feet unlike the way that some other non winter boots would be. I found this to be a great feature as I find myself rolling my feet on pavement and stomping in snow. They are made with very strong waterproof nylon on the outside, I have yet to have any wet feet no matter what winter condition I am in. They are very very light weight. I would compare them to the weight of a tv remote. All of my Baffins are very light weight but rock solid. Don't let the physical weight fool you, these are strong studrly boots that will protect your feet from whatever winter throws at you. The boots stand up on their own, I do not need to sit down to put them on. The insulation lining in the boots is removeable if you have to wash it, but I have yet to need to. Maybe if I fell through the ice I might need to, but mine are always dry and odor free so it has not been an issue. A note: liners are specific to the boots you cannot get a -40 pair of Baffins and place a -70 liner in they will not fit.Read more ›

I was skeptical at first when I opened this up. I hadn't looked very closely at the picture, and saw the little dangling thing that looked like a zipper pull and the seam down the front, so it looked like it opened up to get feet in and out easily, but I found out differently upon delivery. No zipper, you have to shove your foot in and pull it all the way out. I had expected it to be a problem since usually that means the boots feel loose if it's easy enough to slide in, or if the boot still fits snugly, that means it's a real pain getting feet in and out.
This one is snug, but the foot goes in easily and comes out easily. Draw strings on top to help keep a lot of snow from falling in if you're outside playing in the white stuff, can snug it up on top of the foot if you need, and they are surprisingly comfortable. Feel very good and solid when walking around in them, and enough insulation to keep the feet from freezing.
So far, these are the best snow boots I've found in 25 years of adulthood...
