5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding boots that are extremely warm and comfortable, January 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought these boots since a pair of boots with 600 gram Thinsulate Ultra insulation were not keeping my toes sufficiently warm. I tend to be outdoors for activities such as shopping, snow removal, and other similar activities. There is no comparison in my view - these boots are far warmer. They ought to be since Baffin rates them for -148 degrees F or -100 degrees C.

These boots are outstanding. They slip on and off easily. They are sized well - I wear with a light to medium sock. Even though they are medium-width the inner boot adapts to my narrow foot well. The two-buckle fastening system makes for very easy buckling, unbuckling, and adjustment. Pants legs easily fit inside the boot. The soles have a deep tread that provide very good traction. You can drive in them if you're careful despite their width. You do need to exercise some caution to avoid pressing both the brake and accelerator pedals but it is readily done if cautious.

I only have one regret - that I didn't find them sooner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baffin Impact is an excellent boot, February 5, 2011
By

After tromping around in hiking boots and even snowboarding boots I finally decided to invest in a pair of real cold weather boots. I tried several others including muck-type boots but they didn't have much insulation. I also tried some Bogs which seemed pretty good, but the Baffin's snap closures and nice fit were more attractive. I seem to have problems with zippers in the cold or if they aren't perfectly shaped so the simple buckle system works well even when the boot is covered with snow.

I spent a full afternoon outside in freezing temperatures (0-20F) but not -148F! and my feet stayed nice and warm but, thankfully did not overheat or sweat even as I was working hard shoveling snow off the roof. I was told to never use cotton socks, so I used a pair of Smartwools and my feet felt great (unlike with the other types of boots I mentioned above). Excellent construction, well made and easy to walk in. I'm normally a 10 1/2 but these go to whole sizes and the 11 fits very well. I like the gaiter atop the boot and, as mentioned in another review, it slips on and off relatively easily. Unbuckle and push down on the back side of the boot and they slip off nicely without a lot of effort.

The tread grips well, I did not slip on ice or my roof. The boot snugs up tight with the buckles and the straps are nicely designed to grab and tighten even with gloves on. With pants, I just wrap the bottom of the leg and slip it in as I put on the boot.

I noticed only two issues - I have snow pants that don't quite fit over the top of the boot. This is really a snow pant issue and not a boot issue. The only other thing I noticed was that initially my heel tended to lift inside the boot as I walked, but a quick tightening and it seems better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baffin Impacts, December 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I could not believe how fast I got my order from Amazon. So far my baffins are really nice they keep my feet warm or excatly how they were when I put them on, I have problems after my heart surgery keeping my feet warm when I ice fish and was almost ready to give it up because my feet would get ice cold. Ive used them several times on the ice and no problems with my feet getting cold where I wanted to leave. I do suggest you wear your boots for a couple of days because they are tight at first but form fit to your feet kinda of cool. I love my Impacts and want to thank Baffin for such a superior product. And Amazon for the shipment so fast Im impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Warm It's Almost Ridiculous, October 20, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I live in a place where our winter temperatures reach -60F (-51C), so I don't mess around when it comes to winter gear.

I got these boots recently and decided to try them out when our temperatures hit single digits (0 - 10F), and sadly, had to take them off again. Why? Because they're TOO warm for comfort right now (they are rated to -148F / -100C, so I suppose I should have expected that). I'll definitely be taking these back out when the temperatures hit below -20F and giving them another shot (and will update the review), but until then I'll have to stick with the Baffin Mountains (only rated to -76F / -60C) which have a very similar fit.

For me, I had to go up a size on the fit (usually 11 shoes/boots, went up to 12 and they're a great fit). According to the sizing, they say to take out the liners to size the boots, since they will morph to your feet, and should be snug.

The boots are easy to slip on and off, but because of the foam lining fit snugly. You don't have to spend a lot of time getting them on, but you don't have to sacrifice warmth for the trade off. At the top there is a nice pull cord so you can slip your pants/jeans/whatever under them and snug them up, acting like gators to keep the snow out. The boots are quite a bit bigger than the Baffin Mountain style though, to the point that I'm not really comfortable driving with them, but I know if I break down mid winter I won't have a problem walking for miles in them. They're comfortable (very), have great grips, solid craftsmanship, and boy are they warm. No loss of toes here.

Buy these if you plan to spend extended time outside in below zero weather with very little activity, or if you have extreme circulation problems such that no other boot has been able to keep you warm before. Otherwise, if it doesn't drop to 0 or below (minimum), you may want to consider one of the lesser rated Baffin models. Seriously, these are extreme boots.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Snowmobile rides, March 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this boot for only riding my snowmobile. I had to get used to the tight fit and feeling the top of the boot over the foot, was very thick. I have wide feet. The second day of snowmobiling, I was in heaven with warm feet. I would buy these boots again.

5.0 out of 5 stars serious boots, September 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
let me start with sizing...for my feet{normal size 12}they are true to size,i read they run small to order 1 size larger, dont do it,the boots are foam inside and will form around your feet,it may take a day but they will fit like a glove...i bought the boots for snow removal, i need something that slips on and off easily, and that actually fit unlike other pac boots that you "clunk" around in, im happy to report these boots fit the bill perfectly...i cant report on the warmth as its not cold yet, but i dont think ill be disappointed, if anything i think they are going to be too warm for the temps we receive here{upstate ny}...as for the waterproofing...you could stand in snow up to your neck and be ok,but if you stand in a creek they will leak, anything water over the rubber portion of the boot will leak in,im not saying if your foot slips into a foot of water your going to be soaked but if you stand there you will.to be honest if there is standing water its way to warm outside to be wearing theses boots...lastly the build quality seems to be outstanding, they are big beefy boots{but are lighter than they look},i also plan on using these for riding my atv in the winter and have no doubt they will hold up... i will update in the winter

update..the boots are EXTREEMLY warm!..if you dont live some place very cold they might be too much?

5.0 out of 5 stars These are the best cold weather boots out there..., March 18, 2009
By
Don't even bother shopping around or buy from another brand. These boots are PHENOMENAL. Comfortable (for what they are), bulletproof, WARM!!! The inner boot is the best there is. It's foam! Not felt which is clunky. If you have used anyone else's boots (I have before finding Baffin) you know what I mean. Baffin's actually fit. Hands down the best boot your dollar can buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome boot!, December 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got these boots for my son for Christmas and he was super satisfied to finally have a warm boot that fit. They seem heavy until you put them on, he was surprised that they seemed much lighter on his feet. We live in the midwest and it gets below zero a lot...the main reason for purchasing these. Altho we haven't had that cold of weather yet, these boots seems to be what he needed to stay warm. The Seller is very cooperative as well. I ordered these in November and asked if i could possibly exchange them if the size was incorrect and they had no problem with that. The sizes are what they should be and there was no problem with what I had ordered. I would 100% recommend these boots and this seller. Can't go wrong with either!
