Thank you for your feedback.
The rubber used seems to be of good quality and will not to be quick to crack like some other brands.
Also purchased a pair of Baffin Control Max boots to wear when it is not quite as nippy out.
Plus it had to be a comfortable fit, handle deep snow and allow for active snowmobile riding.

The pair of boots I received appeared well made so I was stunned to feel my feet getting cold. The boot is a two-piece system composed of the outer shell and the removable liner. The lower portion of the shell is nothing but molded rubber, thus ALL the insulation around the foot is provided by the removable liner. The thick foam liner compresses under weight similar to memory foam. Unlike the old felt liners in other pac boots, this liner is composed of multiple panels stitched together -and this is why cold penetrated easily. Rather than overlapping the panels to ensure there is no gap in the insulation, some panels are joined with a flat, thin nylon lace like material. The seam between each panel is devoid of any foam insulation, leaving a gap wider than the width of a pencil (see photos). Insulation works by keeping a layer of warm air trapped between you and the cold, but the way these liners fit inside this particular boot –there was no insulation separating my foot from the thin outer rubber shell of boot.

I wear a size 12, but ordered a size 13 as suggested by Baffin and other reviewers. When I phoned Baffin a representative said I should have wear wool socks -which I do, and that the boots should not be too tight; she suggested about an inch of space from toes to front of boot. The fit of the boots is fine, but the liners simply do not provide an adequate block against the cold because of the large gap between the panel seams. The Baffin rep seemed perplexed and said to return the boots, which I did. I offered to send Baffin photos but the rep didn’t seem to care, she said take them back to your retailer.

    Other observations:
The sole of the boot is not thick like that found on a traditional work boot. This allows it to flex in the cold.

Amazing boots! The picture doesn't do them any justice. After receiving them yesterday and trying them on, you'd think they were worth $500. But I'm glad I took the advice of the other buyer who suggested ordering these boots 2 sizes above your normal shoe size. I also wear a 13, and ordered these in a 15 and they fit nice and snug.
There's a removable liner inside, almost like you would find in a pair of ski gloves, except it's for your foot. The liner insulation looks like something off of a space shuttle, but makes my feet start roasting after about 5 minutes. Awesome! My supposedly high end mid-top Timberlands make my feet freeze in about 6 minutes. Rubbish!
Also, these boots are 3x's the size of your average boot! The boot is so big in fact, it's designed to fit over a pair of pants, and rise to about calf height!!! If you drive a manual transmission vehicle besides a mid to full-sized truck or an 18 wheeler with automatic transmission, forget about it. Driving a 2007 Subaru Forester 2.5xt Sport Limited Mirca Blue with manual transmission, I have to wear my normal boots just to drive, then change into these when I get out. But I'd be a fool to give these less than 5 stars because they weren't designed for driving a 5-speed.
I'd buy another pair in a heart beat. With memory foam type cushioning, it feels like my feet are taking a nap. Also, they definitely have safety in mind....all I can say is that you'll even be seen in the dark. Very cool. Even though these are gigantic, they're very easy to walk in, which may invalidate my next comment.
But I do wish they made the boots more snug around the upper leg portion when I lace them up tight.

No matter how insulated a boot is, it has a tough task of keeping you warm when you are not moving. I spent 3 days Steelehead fishing in southern Oregon in 20 degree temps fishing with my boots touching an aluminum boat on water. I must say I felt warmer in these than any other boot I have tried over the last 10 years of fishing. Unfortunately, by the end of the 8 hour day, my feet were still cold, but it wasn't unbearable.

I am a snowmobile guide in Colorado so I can safely say that I understand a good boot. Baffin makes a super warm, water proof, and beefy boot. These are not a town boot as they are made for extreme temps which makes them bulky. Most women argue with me when I fit them in a winter boot for a day outside snowmobiling. They want the boot to "fit" while those of us who work outside daily know that we need a little extra room in that boot to allow good circulation (keeping your foot warmer) and also room for moisture to move away from your foot. So no it should not be snug or tight. He wears a Men's size 11 and in this boot is happy in a 12. I am a women's size 9 but I like this boot in a men's size 9. It gives me plenty of room for a big sock and I can move my foot around. These boots have a really cool waffle board insert that allows sweat to move away from you foot into the bottom of the boot. My boyfriend has the Baffin Men's Shackleton and I have worn Sorel's in the past. My liners were always soaked at the end of the day and I would have cold feet. His feet would be dry and toasty in his Baffin's so that is why I am converting to Baffin. We wear our boots pretty much everyday all day in harsh conditions in the mountains and they stand up to that test.
