The velcro straps are WAY too short - I cannot understand why they weren't made a bit longer.
Would be a 5 star product if not for the straps being too short and making it nearly impossible to close the top of the boot - I'm rigging something to enable me to do that - but I should not have to do that with a boot at this price range - I truly wish I would have returned them.

Inflexible boot shaft = painful!,
By kirfy (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baffin Women's Sage Boot (Apparel)
I ordered this boot from Amazon's sister site, "Endless". I noticed that on that site (or some other shoe site) there was a review saying the shaft of the boot was painful. Hit her in the back of the calf. I dismissed it as it was the only review saying that. On Amazon's website several said the velcro straps wouldn't stretch easily to close. I still bought the boots anyway, b/c I thought the shape of the shoe still resembled my hard to fit foot (wide in front, narrow in back). Low & behold, the last of the shoe fit my foot perfectly, except the shaft did hit me in the back of the calf! Tried to break in at home over three days; not happening. I am short (5'2"); maybe this would be better on a taller gal. Had no problem w/straps. Note to Baffin: make sure your ankle boots cut off at the ankle, not the calf.

By far, worst hiking boot I've ever owned,

This review is from: Baffin Women's Sage Boot (Apparel)
This is without a doubt the worst hiking boot I've ever owned. The only positive thing I can say about them is that they are warm. Other than that, run as far away from this boot as you can.
The cons are many. They run small, which for a hiking boot that one expects to wear during cold weather is especially stupid. I wear a 7.5 in US women's sizes. I ordered this boot in a size 8, and my toes still uncomfortably hit the end of the boot even when wearing my lightest weight summer socks. The elastic strap is flimsy; they slackened up significantly with only a few days' use, and you can't just pull them tighter, since they only have a small bit of velcro on the end with which to fasten closed. The back of the heel is too high -- after only a few minutes of wear, my Achilles at the base of my calf was bloody and bruised. In desperation to make this boot work, I actually took a knife and cut away almost an inch height on the back of the boot to make a suitable Achilles notch (which this height of boot should have anyway!). There is no cushioned insole of any sort, plan to buy and add one unless you want the soles of your feet to feel as if they've been pummeled with a bat. All in all, these boots are trash. I can see why they're selling them so cheaply -- nobody can wear them because they'll cripple you! Do not buy this boot; I ended up throwing mine away after one backpacking weekend because they're so bad. 2115|RTUJ13345NPRN;2115|RLPFAWN60U2LX;2115|R1CO4AFQQ0JKLY;
