5.0 out of 5 stars A little green gem, August 5, 2009

This review is from: Bag Green Guilt, 5 Easy Steps: Turn Eco-Anxiety Into Constructive Energy (Paperback)
Jen's book speaks to what so many Americans are thinking, but are afraid to be politically incorrect by saying out loud--they are overwhelmed by the incredible scope of environmental problems and feel helpless against the tide. While I don't agree completely that guilt is always negative, I love the point of this book which is to take feelings of guilt, acknowledge them, then turn them into action. Instead of thinking that "nothing I do will make a difference," Jen exhorts us to take small steps and then cheer leads our efforts, knowing (and using quotes to support her contention), that small steps made by lots of us, can add up to meaningful change.

I think a lot of women, especially, will relate to Jen's admissions of her own guilt about green steps she fails or finds challenging to take, and how she deals with it. She's not perfect. Neither will her readers be. But this is what makes her vision compelling. She's Everywoman, struggling to do the best for her family as well as the planet. She backs her arguments with statistics that blow her mind and will yours as well, if you're not aware of them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is stuck under a pile of green guilt. You won't fail to be inspired to move from inertia to action.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful Little Paperback Packs a Wallop!, July 26, 2009
This review is from: Bag Green Guilt, 5 Easy Steps: Turn Eco-Anxiety Into Constructive Energy (Paperback)
This quick read will make a lasting impression on anyone who takes the time (two hours tops?) to absorb its simple concepts. Ms. Pleasants has an easy-going, blatantly honest and insightful style of writing that keeps you turning the pages (and chuckling, and rethinking your own actions...) You'll soon be considering and implementing simple changes in your everyday life that really do "make a difference."

5.0 out of 5 stars We Need This Book!, October 23, 2009

This review is from: Bag Green Guilt, 5 Easy Steps: Turn Eco-Anxiety Into Constructive Energy (Paperback)
We need this book! There is so much information out there it really does get overwhelming. I found Jen's practical approach easy and made me realize I was doing little things and they do all add up. I especially loved her chart for which fruits and veg were most important to get organically. But there's loads of well organized tips and advice in this gem of a book.

Thank you. I will continue to refer to this book when I have those moments of eco-depression. Very helpful and insightful.
