5.0 out of 5 stars This Dispeser Saves on Cleanup, May 13, 2009

I brought htis pruduct becase I was intriqued by the ability to place an entire, 5 pound bag of sugar inside and still dispense and pour.

It's very handy! I've always kept sugar in a large canister. To add sugar, you would open the bag, which always had loose crystals in the folds that would get all over the counter and floor, dump the contents into the canister, which can result in spills, and then pry the lid off, anytime you needed sugar. Filling small sugar dispensers was a pain because pouring from the canister was awkward and more sugar was usually on the counter than in the dispenser. This product solves all of thise issues.

With this product, you just remove the lid, remove the empty bag, drop in another full bag of sugar, open or cut the top off, (the loose crystals fall withing the dispenser) and put the lid back on. The lid has a built in little spout for pouring sugar in small quantities or filling shakers, and a larger opening for spooning out larger amounts with something like a large kitchen spoon. It's square shape and convenient handle make shelf storage easy.

I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Has transformed my pantry, March 4, 2007
This is a brilliant new storage idea, and has transformed the way I store flour and sugar in my pantry. The square shape makes it efficient to have several (white flour, whole wheat flour, sugar) on the pantry shelf. The ingenious lid design makes it easy to scoop or pour, and the sack shows through the container so that you know exactly what is inside.

These are so great I wish they came in a smaller version for smaller sacks (such a 3-4 lb sugar). I recently also found a similar product for birdseed bags, and those work great too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy These and Never Buy Another Canister, March 18, 2010
This review is from: Bag in Sugar Dispenser (Clear) (10"H x 9"W x 5"D)
Look, I love canisters, especially the graduated sets. But they're either counter-gobbling cans that don't keep out vermin, or jars with rubber seals and a latch that feel like they'll break whenever your close them. SNAP! You people with those jars know you make a face every time you close them because you're wondering if this will be the time the whole thing shatters.

These canisters will not look pretty out on your counter, forget that. They're pantry residents all the way. BUT they are fantastic. You can put the whole bag of flour or sugar inside them. No dumping out a bag into a canister. They keep flour fresh. (It CAN spoil!) More awesome than anything else, they can keep out critters. I have an "ant problem" (the same way the ocean has a "salt problem"). I've found ants everywhere in the house (even my electric teakettle) EXCEPT in the sugar I keep in this container.
The pour feature works best for sugar, being able to open to scoop without taking off the whole lid is fantastic. (You'll still need to remove the whole lid to measure with anything larger than 1/2 cup.)

I've had the first one we bought for about three years, in constant use, and it's in great shape. Get yourself this canister and have fresh flour and sugar, and make ants go hungry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect fit, useful tidy item to keep you organized., February 25, 2011
This review is from: Bag in Sugar Dispenser (Clear) (10"H x 9"W x 5"D)
Someone else mentioned it here: You can get the same thing at Walmart.

Not any more. As of 2011. And I question whether it is the identical product. I went out and searched for this item, and while the Walmart dispenser is similar, it is not identical. For example, it has no handle. It isn't an exact fit for the 5 lb bag of flour / sugar, which is important once the bag starts getting less than full.

But we're happy with the product. It's a perfect fit. You can drop the bag right in and start using. Obviously, the more delicate spout is for sugar, and the larger one is for flour. The construction is sturdy, and well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT like Walmart version!, November 2, 2011

People who are searching for a container to meet certain needs can be misled when told this item is available elsewhere for less. The Walmart product is SIMILAR to this but does not have the features or the quality. YOu get what you pay for. Pay $3-5 at Walmart for a copycat product of inferior quality, or pay $8-10 for this item that is endorsed by professional and home bakers as well as sellers of bakery products. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. IF you want junk, go to Walmart. If you want a quality item to protect your pricey flour and sugar, buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars ant-free, weevil-free storage, December 29, 2010

During rain storms, we get the occasional invasion of ants and lately, I have noticed weevils so I purchased 2 of these and I think they are great. The pour spout works well and the handle makes lifting an awkward 5lb bag much easier. It might be meant for sugar, but the opaque construction allows for storage of a variety of flours with no confusion. I will probably order them for my mom and sisters.

Ugh, I can't tell you how I hated pouring sugar into anything with its mess and crystals getting all over the place. I have been using the dispenser over a year and I love it. Makes pouring sugar a easy, and not one sugar crystal gets on the counter.

I bought two of these (one for sugar and one for flour) and love them. They are easy to set up; put the bag in, cut the top of the bag down level with the top of the container, put the lid on and it's ready to go. My mother asked me where I got them and thought they were handy. I'll order a couple for her and maybe as gifts in the future (housewarming, bridal shower).
