I *REALLY* wanted to love this bag!!, November 17, 2009
This review is from: Baggallini Crinkle Nylon Get Out of Town Bagg (Apparel)
I really, really wanted to love this bag. I have 3 other Baggalini bags, and I adore them. I've had a wonderful commute recently, with lots of walking and a brief subway ride and carrying a laptop, my lunch, water, etc, in a shoulder bag was causing an extremely painful pinched nerve which plagued me throughout the rest of my work day and I knew I needed a two-shouldered backpack to balance my load, but also wanted something that looked polished and professional with business attire.
The bag itself looks very nice. It's a bit smaller than I expected, it but will do, and as with all Baggalini bags, it is well organized and has many zippered pockets, and place for everything. It includes a full-sized wallet as well as a tethered zippered pouch.
The major drawback, and the reason it rates only 2 stars in my book - is that the backpack straps are not adjustable, and though I've given it considerable thought and am pretty handy and crafty, and, as I've said, WANT to love this bag, I can't figure out a fix. I have not found a comfortable way to wear the strap while zipped (I suppose it would work slung diagonally over my body, which I hate - I have a Kipling bag that does that already - it's a great bag, but I find it hard to get at my stuff when I need it during my commute, and it crushes my suit jackets). The straps are FAR too long. For reference, I'm 5'7" and wear a women's size large, so if anything, I'd expect non-adjustable straps to be too snug on my frame. The straps are so long that the backpack either bounces around uncomfortably on my rear-end, or, I hold both straps together with one hand between my breasts as I walk (which I'm sure looks odd), or, I hold one strap in each hand, slightly out from my body as I walk, to hold the pack firmly on my back.
I don't feel like I can return the bag since I've carried to to work for 2 days now, but I'm deeply disappointed. I might try to take it to a shoe repair shop to see if they can add snaps or some other mechanism to make the straps adjustable. It may be fine as as shoulder or sling bag, but if you intend to use this is a backpack, I'd strongly suggest looking for a different product. Also, the name "Get Out of Town" implies that this might be a sizable bag - it is not, it neatly fits my 13" laptop, power-cord and other miscellaneous small items, but it's a very snug fit.

Nice bag, non adjustable straps, August 14, 2010
This review is from: Baggallini Crinkle Nylon Get Out of Town Bagg (Apparel)
I love the look and layout of this bag. Unfortunatly, due to the lack of adjustable straps I can't use it like I had intended. The straps are so long that the bag hangs down by my waist, making it uncomfortable and inconvenient. The bag itself seems well constructed and I love the outside pockets for easy access to my phone and camera. It's the perfect bag if you know a leatherworker who can redesign the straps for you!

great bag, May 14, 2010
I bought this because the clasp on one of the straps to my previous Baggalini bag broke after 6 months of daily use. I thought I loved that purse, but I love this one even more. Assuming that the clasp does not break so early again, I highly recommend this bag. It's roomier than the one I had before, with plenty of room for all my stuff and a few extras if I need them (the other one had just enough room for my daily items). There are also more pockets and the ones in the front are easily accessible for items you do not want to get lost at the bottom of your bag. I have to wear suits to work, and I think it looks a little funny with them, but otherwise, the bag is stylish enough to wear with any outfit. (Unfortunately, funny-looking or not, I still use this as my purse every day because I developed painful shoulder spasms from a regular purse, but the backbag purse fixed this right up!)
