4.0 out of 5 stars fun bag
I bought this bag about a month ago. I'm someone who prefers to use a backpack instead of a purse for daytime use. The bag is stylish and made of a durable material. It has pockets on the inside and an attachable wallet. I keep my cell in the side pockets which makes it easy to retrieve. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not perfect for me, but still better than the competition.
I'm having a bit of a love hate relationship with my Baggallini.

GOOD:
+ Light weight for its size.
+ Easy to carry comfortably for long periods of time.
+ Easy to keep clean, no worries about rain wrecking the material.
+ Much more stylish than a regular backpack.
+ Magnetic closures work decently well when you don't want to...

I bought this bag about a month ago. I'm someone who prefers to use a backpack instead of a purse for daytime use. The bag is stylish and made of a durable material. It has pockets on the inside and an attachable wallet. I keep my cell in the side pockets which makes it easy to retrieve. The only thing that I don't like about the bag is that you can't adjust the straps. For a shorter person like myself, the bag doesn't quite hang right. But because I like the design, it's just a minor flaw.

+ Magnetic closures work decently well when you don't want to completely close the purse using the zippers.
+ Front pocket works perfectly for a cell phone.

IRRITATING:
+ Tiny side pockets have awkward zipper angle so they take too long to access for use as a cell phone pocket.
+ Zipper tabs are heavy and make too much noise when they're zipped together and you're walking.
+ Top magnetic tab could have been larger and more of a "flap" so zippers aren't always necessary.

BAD:
+ No good spot for a pen or larger items you want to keep separate from each other (large compartment should be bisected length-wise).
+ Little business-card sized slots in large compartment are just a waste of fabric and catch items as you're putting them into the purse.
+ Non-adjustable straps are even too long for my fat body. Can't imagine how low this bag sits on smaller women.

Take note Baggallini - I'd spend twice the money for a similar bag if you'd just take away the stupid too-big pen holders and useless business card slots, split the large compartment, and make the straps adjustable. These simple mods would turn this from a 'meh' bag to my favorite.

I adore this bag! The material is sturdy and of high quality. The front pocket is handy. I use it as a backpack and a purse. It will fit a book and my lunch inside. It looks professional. I am very pleased with this classy bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best backpack bag, February 12, 2009

Good looking, roomy, high quality. Nice zipper pulls that look like (and may be) brushed nickel. Many credit card slots, place for cell phone. I prefer backback purses that free up my hands for whatever I am doing and do not hang heavy on one shoulder. Backpack purses are hard to find, so was very happy to find this one. This is not a dreary old-style leather bag. It goes great with jeans. This is my second Baggallini Downtown Bagg and I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs better inside pockets, March 21, 2011

I bought this bag because it has a low profile when worn on the back. I had my shoe guy shorten the straps because I am short and wanted it to fit a little closer. I like the color and the zippers. The big problem with this bag is the lack of organizer pockets inside. They are indicated but they are too shallow to be of use. I could really use a pocket that could hold a passport and one that was deep enough to securely hold my metro pass, etc. As it is I have to use separate mesh bags to organize the purse. It could use a redesign, but it is OK for now. I am glad I bought it on sale though because with having to work so hard to organize the inside and pay to shorten the non adjustable straps, I wouldn't pay full price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Backpack almost perfect, July 26, 2010

The backpack was priced attractively. It is light weight. The credit card pockets on the inside of the purse are not great as when the purse is "filled" they keep popping the credit cards out. I wish there were more credit card spaces on the front pocket. Also the elastic loops for pens on the inside of the bag don't really hold pens. They too, flop out or in the case of the front pocket elastic for pens, the pen gets in the way of your cards and money. All that being said I still like the bag very much because of its weight, size and quality.

This is one of the best bags I have ever owned. Plenty of pockets, very sturdy and the zippers are of good quality. It has lasted very well for several months and the material still looks new.
