This review is from: Baha Mar, An Underwater Guide to the Bahamas (Paperback)
For those who knew the late Rob Palmer, as I did, I think most would agree he was difficult to like and get on with but easy to respect. In life he always sought to be different - and in many ways that was from where his great skills as a diving pioneer came. Only Rob could produce a book with two titles - "and" with the wrong title displayed first.

"An Underwater Guide to the Bahamas" is printed near to the top of the book's cover and "BAHA MAR - THE SHALLOW SEAS" near the bottom. In order to publish this review I looked up the first of these titles and go not hits at all. I then looked up the second title - and here we are.

Baha Mar - The Shallow Seas is a paper-back book measuring 9" x 6" (23cm x 15 cm) containing just over 200 pages of solid information. Unlike some of those cheaper so-called guide books which prey on the buyers instinct for impact (the sort which are heavy on posed photos but short on information), this book tells you all you need to know about the seas surrounding The Bahamas without getting down to specific dive sites.

In his customary style which is always very readable, Rob explains what these seas are all about. He explains; coral reefs, patch reefs, deep reefs, lagoons and, of course, the fabled Blue Holes.

If ever you wanted to learn more about what makes the seas of the Bahamas exactly what they are, then this is the book to buy. Having then read this book, the knowledge gained will stand you in good stead for any visit to elsewhere in the Caribbean and possibly beyond.
