This review is from: Baila Baila Baila: 1943-1948 (Audio CD)
This is a great album compilation of Frank Grillo, aka "Machito" during his early years with his latin-jazz band, aka "Machito and his Afro-Cubans". Already Graciela Grillo-Bauza, his sister, of Orquesta "Anacaona" fame in Havana, had come from Cuba and joined Machito's band as a lead singer. 1940's Cuban music hits like "Llora Timbero", Arsenio Rodriguez' musical homage to famous rumbero "Malanga" who died in Cuba, around 1944, "Llego Dieguito", "La Bata de Oya" etc. make the acquisition of this CD irresistible for fans of the genre. Don't miss this one, get it while supplies last. I highly recommend it, its Machito during his very best years and of course the equally unforgettable Mario Bauza leading the trumpet section and as that great band musical director.
