Editorial Reviews

Bailar En La Cueva is a more rhythmic and dance oriented album than Drexler's previous works, where here he takes more risks than ever with the vision of this project. The album was recorded in Bogota, Colombia in collaboration with Colombian musicians alongside Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero) and also in Spain with his original band members. The album includes the track "Bolivia" which features a special participation of Brazilian singer/guitarist CAETANO VELOSO. Drexler's objective with Bailar En La Cueva is to reach his traditional audience with his style of music and expand it a step further styles and rhythms from other Latin American countries, such as Colombia. Eleven new recordings are featured on Bailar En La Cueva.

Jorge Drexler
"Bailar En La Cueva"
(Warner Music Latina, 2014)
. . . .

A really sweet, eclectic set by Uruguayan-born world citizen Jorge Drexler, who mixes traditional Latin American music with mellow modern pop, soul, jazz and electronica in a style strongly reminiscent of Brazil's Caetano Veloso (a longtime friend who also makes a guest appearance on this album...) and also of numerous younger rock en espanol and Nortec bands. If you like subtle, intelligent, uncategorizable world-pop, this is a lovely, highly listenable album that will quickly nestle in your mind and stay in rotation for a long time once it gets under your skin. Recommended! (DJ Joe Sixpack, Slipcue Guide To World Music)

In his new album the Uruguayan singer/composer Jorge Drexler reconnects with Latin America, mixing sounds from Bolivia, Colombia and other cultures without loosing his own signature

I have been listening to this CD repeatedly for days and still enjoy it very much. Most of the songs are quite danceable. And even though I don't understand Spanish, his voice and his phrasing, set against wonderful latin and world music rhythms, makes for a 'sum' which is greater than its parts.
