Au moment de prendre congé de Gabriel, un encadreur avec qui elle a passé la soirée, Émilie, designer parisienne de passage à Nantes, lui refuse le baiser qu'il réclame. Or, celui-ci insiste, sous prétexte que, pour ces deux personnes heureuses en ménage, le geste sera sans lendemain. Convaincue du contraire, Émilie lui raconte l'histoire d'un baiser innocent qui a mis sens dessus dessous les parties concernées. Judith, chimiste, avait en effet accepté d'embrasser Nicolas, son ami d'enfance, afin de le soulager d'un urgent besoin de contact féminin. Mal en prit à cette épouse de pharmacien, désormais incapable de chasser Nicolas, professeur de maths, de ses pensées. Pareillement, ce dernier, nostalgique de ce moment d'intimité avec Judith, a remis en question ses sentiments envers sa nouvelle petite amie.

Un Baiser S'il Vous Plaît is a charming exploration of desire and attraction. I wouldn't call it a romantic comedy, more a quirky lighthearted drama about relationships. The pace is slow and there is a lot of dialogue, but the film is never boring; on the contrary, the terrific acting makes the chemistry between the characters very believable and compelling. The plot intertwines the changing relationship between a man and his married female friend and other women in his life, and an encounter between strangers. The characters exhibit a lot of tenderness and vulnerability. The classical score adds warmth and charm to the often awkward encounters between the characters.
